"So...I guess this is it."

"Yeah..."

"It's not like we ever really thought it was going somewhere anyways, right?"

"No, not at all. Of course not."

"It's better for the band in the long run, don't you think?"

"Definitely, yeah."

"So, uh, I'll see you at practice tomorrow, ok?"

"Yeah. Later."

"Later..."

In the end, you had to be the one to break things off even though he opened the can of worms in the first place. You smiled with every word you said and the confused look on his face was something you would have to tell yourself wasn't adorable anymore. It hurt to unlearn everything that you couldn't help but notice anyway and you were never that great of a student in the first place.

Somehow the next day, you felt, should've been more...something. Instead the only difference is that it took Jonghoon seven minutes to get ready to play instead of his usual five (you couldn't help but stare at the clock, not when he was so close and you needed to stay so far away). Ten hours of practice and nine hours of imposed silence. You couldn't think of what to say so you simply didn't. And perhaps that made everyone watch you a little longer but Jaejin, in typical fashion, simply murmured that sometimes people have quiet days and let's begin the next song, please. Nobody could argue with that. The music made you all feel a little more comfortable.

Later that night, Minhwan would come up to you and say he's never heard you perform so powerfully and Hwaiting, hyung, let's knock them dead tomorrow and you'd simply smile, all too aware that you finally truly understood what you were singing about.
