UAAP Season 74 Game 9: Ateneo 82-57 UST

Keys to victory:
The re-emergence: Apparently, someone called up Justin Chua up from Team B. Whoever that person was, he was eight games late. Chua toyed with Karim Abdul, posting more points than minutes. A game like this should be a confidence builder more than anything else. He usually brings out his best against the Growling Tigers since 2008, and this game was no exception.

Freebies: 28/31 against 14/25. Not much to elaborate on here.

Kief the Faith for Salva-tion is near: First of all let me laugh at what I just read on the screen during the pregame analysis (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *breathes* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA). Okay, there. Nico Salva went berserk and made a lot of shots coming off up-and-under layups as well as backdoor finishes. Not to be outdone, Kiefer broke loose for three breakaway layups, one of which was a frustrated dunk attempt. I'll bet you Coach Norman hollered at him not to show up Pido's boys as Ravena began his takeoff.

Chalk talk:
Emman Monfort played Jeric Fortuna to a tie, and once that happens, Ateneo has already won the battle against the Jerics. Yes, Jeric Teng made 20 points, but if he needed 21 shots to do so, then Ateneo's defense will gladly oblige to that inefficiency.
Karim Abdul grabbed 19 rebounds. That's the only silver lining I can find for UST.

Tweets of the game:

@IanBautista: Ateneo flexing some championship muscle

@chuck_araneta: Ferrer, di mo kaya si Monfort. Bine-benchpress ka lang niya sa gym.

@djmarquezlim: UST ba talaga kalaban namin? Or UST high school? Hahahahaha tambak kung tambak

Quarter scoring: 15-6, 40-22, 68-37, 82-57

Game 10: vs UE - August 25, 1PM Smart Araneta Coliseum
UE is coming off a win against La Salle, so expect a really tight match... in the first quarter.
