The first star I see may not be a star.
We can't do a thing but wait.
So let's wait for one more.
- "For Me This Is Heaven"
They both hesitate, but for different reasons. One, for his lack of confidence in himself, the other because he has dreams, and this reality does not fit his imaginings.
One hesitates because he has explored every possible outcome, and the higher percentage end badly. Because he is less, because he is thinking instead of feeling. Because he wonders if touching something so seemingly pure, and yet so deadly, will destroy it... Or destroy him.
The other hesitates because of none of these things. He has responsibilities, and an image to uphold, at the risk of ignoring his own wants. He holds back because he can't believe that dreams can come true so soon; he must watch and wait a little longer, to be sure. The real thing may pass him by if he does not keep his eyes open.
A third waits upon the sidelines, and wonders why nothing has happened; he knows them both so well, he knows what they want. He knows what he wants, too. And if they do not make a move towards one another soon, he will swoop in and have everything he desires.

With pride keep every failure in.
And with pride hold on to the sinking.
Now in the deep and down your heart moves.
- "Clarity"
One is gone, absent and leaving a huge gaping hole that it is so hard to fill. Just so hard to try and uphold the ideals, the emotions that are embodied. He is crumbling under the weight of responsibility, where every other time he has enjoyed it, been spurred on by it. But this time he is alone to bear the weight, and he is finding he is not as strong as he first thought.
His friend stands silent with him often, searching for the right words to say when a win turns out to be a loss, and the confidence is knocked down another notch. He can think of all the reasons and explanations, but they are so clinical, so black and white, where what he needs is some shady grey assurance in soft words and reminders of better times.
There is a sucking void between them that keeps stealing the words. And while the silence is no bad thing, the friend cannot help but know the missing third would fill the void and bring together answers with emotion to nurse wounded pride.

Our weakness is the same.
We need poison sometimes.
So take another drink with me.
- "Ten"
They have known one another too long, and know one another too well. They have forgotten what it is to be polite, and to tell white lies for the sake of saving feelings. Between them too much is known, too much is open and honest. It has gone to an extreme neither of them knows how to reverse; it is the work of time. Comfort in one another's prescence has lead to this; an unveiling of their true selves; rude, harsh and hurtful.
It began when they both realised their talents had gone too far, and their heads were beginning to swell. They had to remind one another they each still had flaws and things to work on. But they did it in such ways that passionate fights off the scale became inevitable. They are both hot-headed and hot-blooded, and they know what they really need is not only what the other can give them; it is a cool, calm voice of reason that can step between them, and bring them back together peacefully.
The third can see it too; he is perceptive. And he is only waiting for the right time to strike.

Here you can be anything.
I think that scares you.
- "Just Watch The Fireworks"
The three of them tangle themselves up in one another on cold sheets. With a natural timer in each of their heads, no-one is given more attention than any other.
Sanada knows that when the two of them work together, he will feel the soft tingling all the way down to his toes right through until the next afternoon.
Yukimura can lay back and relax, knowing he is in safe hands when they both take their time to focus on him.
Yanagi still can't help but worry when the two of them smirk at one another over him, but he reminds himself that in one hundred percent of cases, the smirks always end in good things.
Between the three of them, they feel they have finally gotten the balance right.
