Ingraham on O'Reilly last night

I have many liberal friends (you know who you are) with whom I frequently debate issues, and most often we end up agreeing to disagree - without being disagreeable.  I happen to support "traditional marriage" (to use the terminology presented here), but I agree with civil unions.  This isn't meant to be a debate seed about those stances.

This is a prime example of how a vocal minority of people on the left can be so vitriolic that fair minded people on the right tend to tune out the entire left wing of the country.  Even though many of the "social progressive" points that are supported by the left have plenty of room for negotiation (in my opinion), this type of behavior is so disgusting - and this is what made it to national news!, nevermind the blogosphere *shudders* - our minds are closed off to debate because of it.

Finally, what breaks the camel's back is the fact that groups that are nominally there to advocate for freedom and equality suddenly clam up.  Remember the bruhaha with Trent Lott's comments at Stom Thumond's 100th birthday party in 2002, or even Don Imus' off the cuff remarks that cost him his job in 2007.

Let's let fairness speak all the way around, shall we?
