Wow, this is really reaching back into the past for me. I am greatly appreciative of the detail in your review. Every now and again I think I really ought to go back and remaster this one, and now you've given me some new motivation to do that.
Under Ice was my first Farscape vid. (I was X-Files before that.) I think I made it in what must have been 2001 -- right after I first saw The Choice, and before I had even seen most of S1 or S2. I was still living in a somewhat technically isolated, dial-up world. I made the vid in Quicktime, on a PC, using a $35 shareware program. Some of the things you mention, such as jerky motion in a few places and not-so-great effects, are probably the result of that, and repeated re-compression and general lack of know-how. It's what's made me want to go back and re-do this and other of my early vids, but life keeps getting in the way

Hey :) here via farscape_friday Hope it's ok to friend you randomly, I'm just starting out with my first Farscape vid and your reviews of what works / doesn't work is really good to read :)
I've found many useful sites and discussion forums on the technical side of how to edit, but not much on the more artistic side of what makes a good clip, or a good vid.
I'm glad you're finding my recs useful. Sorry I didn't reply earlier; RL's been a bit crazy - I'm finishing uni at the moment.
Where's your vid(s)? I've been out of the loop of vid collecting since I started the process of writing my thesis and preparing for exams and so on, so I need people to point me to all the new places that have sprung up in the last, err, year and a half or so... ;-)
Lol! My vid is about 47seconds long and currently residing on my hard drive ;) I'm working on figuring out how to do a test export and upload of that 47seconds and I'd very much appreciate your thoughts when I do :)
