Hey guys!
Well here it is, the post about my beginnings as a Henry Clay student!
The first day was, erm, interesting. All the soccer girls met in the parking lot 45 minutes early, where all the girls new to the varsity team discovered what they had to do for team initiation. Yes, boys and girls, I had to wear a diaper, a bib, and my hair in a rally high ponytail on the first day of school. The theme was "varsity babies" lol. So let's just say that I got quite a few funny glances. Ok so I am going to go through the day by period:
1st period- Mrs. Gilvins- Latin 2: I really think I am going to like this class! Mrs. Gilvins is very nice and laid back, so I think Latin is going to be fun.
2nd period- Mrs. Gill- ADV Physics: She seems very down-to-business but also a very good teacher. However, the curriculum looks as though it is going to be very challenging indeed. :-/
3rd period- Mr. Pope- AP Government/Macroecon: Now this guy is a trip. Let's just say I think he smoked a little too much pot as a teenager. It literally takes him a year to finish a sentence. But he seems like a nice guy! Anyways, I am the only junior amongst a class of seniors who decided to take this class as an easy out for a social studies class. SO lets just say it was a little akward wearing a diaper in a room of older people I didn't know.
4th period- Mr. Dewees- ADV Pre-Cal: This guys is shaping up to be a pretty good math teacher, so that's always a plus. And get this, all last year he would always be in the room across the hall flirting with the teacher in there, and it turns out that this summer they got married! Go fig.
5th period- Mrs. Cantrell- Newspaper: This class has quite a diverse lot in it (who all seem to be very opinionated. Should be interesting.
6th period- Mr. Logsdon- AP English: This guy reminds me of Mr. Chappell with his mannerisms (and hes also a theater teacher). But he's a little less round. And not redheaded. But anyways, I was all excited about this year until I found out that out of the 8 books we are reading this year, I have read 6 of them. So this is basically a repeat of my sophomore year. I guess this could be good, but how boring!!!! I have to read "The Scarlet Letter", "The Crucible", "As I Lay Dying", "The Grapes of Wrath", "Adv. of Huck Finn", and "The Great Gatsby" again...what's the deal????
Anyways, yesterday night we had a soccer game against West Jessamine and we won 1-0! It was uber-intense, which is what made it all the better (and the fact I got to start!!!)! Tonight, however, we are playing Sacred Heart, the best team in the state, and we are going to get stomped lol. But all we can do is play hard...wish us luck!
As for school today, it was alright. People just aren't that friendly here...
Well dears, I must go! Much love to you all!
