Letting off some steam....

...just one of those rants...
I ordered a couple of DVDs on Amazon UK this week and I was really, really looking forward to watch them (i.e. David Tennant in "Casanova" and Alan Davies in "Jonathan Creek") this weekend. So - just to be sure the package arrives by Saturday (as I'm not in the UK) - I chose Express delivery; a bit pricey, but worth it, I thought. Well - there goes my lazy "lying on the sofa and watching cute guys"-weekend.
Amazon confirmed the package has dispatched, but they deliver by UPS! Sorry guys, UPS might deliver all over the world, maybe even in the Sahara Desert, but they certainly won't get my order delivered! I always let my orders be sent to a "Packstation", which is an automat (operated by DHL/Deutsche Post) where the package is put into a safe deposit box and you can pick it up there any time (bit like a PO box and great if you're not at home during daytimes). No problem at all, because usually Amazon and most other shops use the regular mail services (Royal Mail, Deutsche Post, whatever) for their deliveries. Those do offer express services! And - important bit for me - those are the only ones who get to put stuff into a Packstation. UPS can't do it, not FedEx or whatever!
So thanks to Amazon for using a f*** delivery company without letting me know beforehand. (It's nowhere on their site, I checked!) Now I can wait for the package to return to Amazon, and then order all over again. I'll be glad if I have my things next weekend (and I wouldn't count on that - much more likely to take longer!)
