Don’t stop running.
Don’t stop fearing.
Don’t look back,
Or it could make you think twice,
And give in.
Then you’ll get hurt.
Don’t give in,
No matter how tired you get.
Don’t let it
Tear your walls down.
Your walls are your defenses.
You’ve barred the gates,
Locked the doors,
And armed the guards
With heavy artillery.
It will not get in.
If it does you could get hurt.
You're tired of running,
So tired of being guarded.
Worn out from resisting.
The voices
That you’ve pushed aside
Come back.
“Trust me.”
“Confide in me.”
“I would never lie to you.”
“I would never hurt you.”
“Why can’t you trust me?”
“Baby, I love you, why won’t you let me get inside your head?”
No.
Don’t give in.
Keep running.
Trust was never your friend.
Always a weakness,
Now a newfound enemy.
It’s always one step behind you.
