Paradigm Shifted On The Fly

Hey.

Last week, at my bro's place in Asheville, I saw those anime-inspired TV ads for an insurance company (probably inspired, at least in part, by Geico's use of Speed Racer last year), and while watching a target-of-opportunity program during tonight's storms, I saw one of them again.

It's not like anime is suddenly becoming mainstream, but it's mainstream enough now that nobody can make a big fuss about it anymore.

I've been an anime fan since Nixon was Prez (but I didn't know it till my Freshman year of College), so I know first-hand of the rise of the Otaku culture in America. Anime still has a way to go for full acceptance, but it has crossed MOST of the hurdles.
