Ring On It?

May 21, 2010 18:21

Hey.

Had an appointment at the Health Department today. Was forced to endure half a dozen little brats all acting like the world belonged to them, and their parents. The parents all had piercings and tattoos...but none of them had wedding rings.

While my sample size is too small and too isolated to mean anything to a serious researcher, it should still be a clue. If marriage is failing as an institution, don't blame the gays and lesbians who want to marry their life partners. Blame the young heterosexual adults who don't value being married--not even for their children!--and a society and culture that likewise fails to support and nuture marriage. How likely is it that one or the other--or both--of the parent partners I saw had unmarried parents of their own? Why should they feel the need to get married?
