But we still wound up giving up, pulling out and selling our ally down the Mekong. Which is why I don't expect to see Pakistan and Afganistan survive for much longer. If history is repeating, we've just outlasted the Tet Offensive, and Linebacker II is coming, then after that the whole "Peace Is At Hand" nonsense, followed by the Domino Principle and the Killing Fields.
