oh god what am i doing

IN LESS IRRITATING NEWS i got bored and began wondering how you write Star Control in katakana. This is unrelated to the above, if you can believe that. It turns out it's スターコントロール, and in the process I found the Japanese wiki page for it!

Other fun stuff I learned -

Captain's Japanese name is Isamu. That's not bad. The Flagship is Kamui, which strikes me as a bit odd though.

The VUX are apparently too awesome for katakana, and are written as all caps VUX in both languages. BUT APPARENTLY STARCON3 JUST COULDN'T BE BOTHERED TO DO THE SAME. I wonder if that means ZEX and the other's names are written in all caps English too? I should check. A quick google nets me nothing. Maybe it WAS spelled out in kata? i need to get a 3DO emulator and check out this japanese rom i have of it now and find out wtf suffix DAX had finally
oh DARN IT THEY DON'T WRITE OUT DIALOGUE IN THE ROM FRICK >:(

There are still some Japanese Starcon2 fans out there, chatting about on messageboards. They seem to like the Pkunk.

There's apparently a Japanese shoe called Star Control. Ha ha ha. make googling fansites difficult why don't you

Even Japanese fans think Starcon3 sucked. Either that or the English side of the fandom whines so much about it that they felt compelled to mention that no one liked Starcon3 on the japanese wiki (that might explain why there are no katakana versions of the Starcon3 races).

Also, Chenjesu in katakana is チェンジス, or Chenjisu and YES THAT'S HOW I PRONOUNCE IT HAHAHA no jeh-su for me thank you. Mmrnmhrm to マルノマハルモ Marunomaharumo, that must have taken some sounding out. Amusingly enough, Shofixti looks somewhat awkward in katakana - ショーフィックスティ.

And appareeeently Shiozawa Kaneto (塩沢兼人) does the voices for the Pkunk, Yehat, Arilou, Supox, Melnorme, and Shofixti in Japanese.

IN CLOSING, I LOVE YOU GUYS AND THIS COMMUNITY MORE THAN YOU'LL EVER KNOW BECAUSE I CAN POST STUFF LIKE THIS AND NOT FEEL JUDGED FOR IT THANK YOU GOODNIGHT
