dfkalsdjf ZEX ;_; God, I can't even imagine how much it would suck to be him at that point. All those years all "WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME WHY AREN'T I NORMAL sob" and then when he finally feels something for someone it's for something that his species hates with a fiery burning passion and I'm sure that would just cement the "something's horribly wrong with me" idea in his brain. GOD I WANT TO HUG HIM.
This is amazing and makes me super happy. ZEX's coming out is something that fascinates me. And aww twisting their head tendrils together. Talk about giving mixed signals.

And yeah god that'd be so harsh. D: Constantly feeling out of place and weird and messed up and you finally find the thing you want and everyone thinks you're a freak for it. BUT THANKFULLY DAX SUPPORTED HIM SORT OF and eventually ZEX accepted and embraced it to the point where he defined himself by it and became incredibly proud of being different (instead of wrong) and yaay
And yeah mixed signals ZEX haha he probably wasn't even aware of it. no wonder poor dax gets all conflicted about him later

Who is this ZIK? Were there other xenophilic VUX before ZEX? ...Now that's a silly question.
That sentence about "VUX-oriented" humans conjures memories of the UQM forum thread about Star Control II in a mirror universe, including, among other things, human-loving VUX. No one seemed to realize that humans would also have to find VUX attractive for the sake of parallel structure.
Well, I know I'm VUX-oriented. I like anything with tentacles, really, unless it's gigantic.
Maybe the V and X in "VUX" stand for Victorian and Xenophobe: two things that suck, suck, suck in the worst way possible.

WHO IS ZIK??? Maybe not a xenophile, but possibly a human sympathizer that tried a bit tooo hard to sway everyone to see them in a more favorable light, and got the axe for it. I'd imagine the first couple years after seeing humans would be pretty tumultuous, given how strong their aversion is towards us. :O

Although now I want to see how his xenophilia became public, because oh man that would have been so awkward. Or maybe the journey from 'oh dear god what the hell is wrong with me D: D: D:' to 'hey human come over here and I'll screw you until you explode lol'.

And yeah that would have been really awkward. :O I imagine over time with DAX's support and the like, he embraced his xenophilia as wholeheartedly as he could so he could convince himself that there wasn't something wrong with him, just that he was different, and anyone who thought he was messed up in the head was just a bigot. Kind of a way to defend his sense of pride and such from attack, by making it everyone else's problem. And since pride and such is such a big deal for them and everything.
