WonderCon 2005: My Quest for Batgirl

Feb 20, 2005 03:16

I've achieved ultimate geekdom at WonderCon! My feet are tired from walking all day in the Dealer's Hall. Being the avid comic fangirl that I am, here's a list of comic artists/writers that I approached:

Greg Rucka - he got mad at me when he found out i wasn't reading Wonder Woman anymore...lol

Howard Chaykin - he asked what that shiny thing on my forehead was, then wanted to actually touch it...lol...(Naruto head protector)

Eric Basulda - he was impressed that *I* (a girl, nonetheless) actually knew about the Aphrodite comic. he also did a Batgirl sketch for me, felt he needed to challenge jim lee's and art adams' Batgirl sketches that i have...lol

Art Adams - cool dude who's a big godzilla fan. also likes to shop at my comic store. he also promised me a godzilla sketch the next time he visits.

Bill Morrison - under legal contracts, he's not allowed to do any Simpson's sketchwork outside of Bongo Comics. damn, i was hoping for a Bartman...

Andy Lee - modern zen brush artist. very nice and very cool dude who painted me a Batgirl on watercolors. this was well worth my $20.

Joe Keatinge - an old local customer of the comic shop. hasn't been in for over a year cause he moved out of the neighborhood. he's now working for Image Comics and he remembered me from the shop...lol

Kevin Smith - one funny-ass dude. quoted from his panel "xmen is full of gay jokes and innuendos. and anyone who claims they love wolverine as a favorite character, just means they love to suck alot of cock". i was fortunate to bump into him as we were leaving the Moscone Center and i asked for a picture with him. :) yay!

Bruce Timm - i got turned down for a Batgirl sketch, cause he was only doing Batman heads. i was bummed out, so he said "after i draw his head, you can draw in the hair or something and give him some lipstick. he can be BatTranny."...LOL...

Adam Hughes - got to him 3 hours too late on Friday. he already had a list of about 20 names to do full-color sketches throughout the weekend...ARGH!!! he was charging ONLY $100 per sketch. I WOULD'VE SHELLED THAT MONEY OUT. his work is absolutely gorgeous.
