I heart weekends

Dec 06, 2003 16:57

Well, it's the last weekend for a few things. It's the last Saturday for the regular season of college football. That will be missed. At least Purdue should be going to the Capital One Bowl or, at worst, the Outback bowl. It is always sad when college football season ends because then Saturdays are wide open.

Also, this will be the last normal weekend before finals. Next weekend I will have to devote at least some time to preparing for my final exams. Luckily, I virtually have only two to prepare for. I have 4 really, but one was made optional such that you could take the grade you had going in to the exam. I will be exercising that option. The other joke final I have is political science which is possibly the biggest joke class I have ever been a part of. I do not attend class and I get 90% on the quizzes and the midterm. Needless to say, the final does not worry me. That leaves two finals; analytical and biochemistry. They are on Wednesday and Friday so the pressure will not build until later in the week. Also, this idiot in analytical chemistry is having us submit questions and answers for use in the final. They also have a listserv for the class. Yeah, that won't get spread around to the whole class. Hopefully that will render that exam harmless. Cross your fingers.

Another news note is that my Christmas shopping is almost done. Darci and I went out last night and I got everyone done but her. I know what I'm getting her so I'm virtually done, it's just a matter of getting it. That makes me very excited to not have to worry about what to buy for who anymore. Moreover, I think I actually have selected some good gifts this year. Yay for me!

The other piece of news is on the job front. I heard back from the HR lady at Abbott Labs finally. Of course I was driving so I could not answer my phone. She left a message. It sounds to me like I'm in pretty good shape. She said they were very interested in me to fill a position. She said to keep them in mind that that a formal offer could come in one or two weeks. That would be fantastic. If not, I have the Cargill job to fall back on. That was made official on Friday as well. I made the call and put the location wheels in motion. I feel very excited for having an offer and quite possibly a second offer. I'm extra excited because the Abbott job is phenomenal. I love the company, I love the boss I'd be working for, I love the job, I love the area, I love the benefits package (cash profit sharing, baby!), and no doubt the salary will not be bad either. I'm really really praying that Abbott comes though. Obviously I cannot see the future, but I really think Abbott is the place I belong. So if you're reading this, pray for me that I get an offer from Abbott. Thanks.

Well, that's it for now. I'm going to do something with Darci tonight. Tomorrow I have some stupid work to do and some football action to monitor. All in all an exciting time. Until next time, keep your stick on the ice.
