So I was on my way home from work today and who should I run into but Randy and Captain Stottlemeyer from Monk.
Yeah. Randy and Stottlemeyer. MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS FROM THE SHOW. Right in the middle of freaking Union Station.
I was kind of half running, half-walking my way out like usual, trying to catch my next bus when I just happened to notice all the lights, screens and camera equipment. “Oh I guess they’re filming here again,” I thought to myself. I was wearing my earbuds and had the volume of my mp3 player turned up to full blast so I was somewhat tuned out and not really paying attention to my surroundings. Then I made it out of the main corridor where you exit from the platforms.
“Oh hey, it’s Randy and Stottlemeyer.”
I literally did a double-take.
OMGWTF IT’S RANDY AND STOTTLEMEYER AND I JUST WALKED PAST THEM!!!!!!!
I immediately backtracked and sure enough, they were right there, pretty much minding their own business and reading their scripts, 3 FEET AWAY FROM ME. I was totally shocked. There wasn’t really a crowd or anything or maybe everyone there was a cast/crew member. I’m not sure.
Somehow, despite this incredibly serendipitous turn of events, I somehow managed to convince myself I needed to go catch my bus.
WTF BRAIN, WTF!???!?!? *headdesk* I am kicking myself SO HARD for that right now.
Why didn’t I at least take a picture with my phone or something? Rrraarggghh… I mean I suppose I hesitated at first because they looked busy and no one else was like zomg autographs plx, BUT STILL. I’ve been watching this show since the beginning (since I was in high school!) - how could I have let myself miss out on this?
Also, I know that Ted Levine plays Cpt. Stottlemeyer, but for the life of me I couldn’t remember Randy’s real name. @)_@ (It’s Jason Gray-Stanford.) All these years he’s just been RANDY to me. (Not even Lt. Randy Disher, lol.) Seriously, those two are the reason I still watch Monk.
Really, what should I have done? Should I have yelled, “OMG Randy, you’re my favorite!”? Should I have gone up to them and said, “Hey I’m a huge fan. Can I take a picture?” I suppose that might’ve worked. I’ve seen quite a few celebrities in passing but have never ever approached them before. I guess I’ve always been terrified of them thinking I’m a total loser fangirl that’s acting creepy/wasting their time. And I really don’t think I could handle it if Jason Gray-Stanford were to be like, “Um, please leave me alone, kid.” I would probably have cried. >.<
Man I haven’t missed out like this since Peter S. Beagle was at Anime Expo.
LE SIGH. I AM SO MAD AT MYSELF.
