OOC: rateth - I'll compile your Uo post in once you've fixed it.^^
She tried to count everyone off by two's on her fingers, only to lose count. "Let's see..
" She hadn't even reconsiled jsut how many people she had to feed yet, let alone the chaos. We all know, Shigure+High School Girls = trouble. Maybe Shigure wouldn't though? For just the night? She smiled, asking that of Shigure would be like asking the sun not to shine.
Pacing now, she sighed. Most of her clothing was in the wash, and if not that the only thing she had was pajamas. Taking a seat on the bed, which given it's large size she pratically was swallowed sometimes she fell back. Staring at the ceiling, she closed her eyes. Her mind was set to get changed, then join everyone else. Her body, however; had another plan entirely. She had been over-working herself lately, just to keep on things. Holidays, Birthdays, you name it. So it was almost inevitable that when she came in contact with her own bed, she'd forget all else and fall asleep. You'd almost think she had narcolepsy.
Sprawled on her back, a shirt in one hand and skirt in the other. She had finally given into sleep. For how long? Whose to say. Of course, Tohru was just that type of person to be able to run on two hours of sleep but manage it to look like she had the full eight. Still, it was hard to stomach how she was just so easy to fall asleep on her back, given how odd of a position that was for most people.
A class outing didn't sound like such a bad idea after the festival. Yuki Sohma had managed to pull himself out of bed early and was still in a dazed stupour until he heard his brothers peircing voice screaming into the house and demanding everyone's attention. The boy shuddered inwardly and for a moment in his half-awakened state, tried to figure out how they were related. The answered just couldn't form in his mind, however the process had managed to wake him up entirely.
Him and that bakaneko would be a good match. Yuki forced himself to pause for a moment and take a deep breath. He was trying to change himself wasn't he? Get along better with people and become more social. It's something Honda-san had been doing since they first met, with dai hin min and all. The boy nodded to himself and descended the stairs the majority of the way. He listened quietly.
The girl wasn't in the kitchen, really the only thing he could hear in the house was his brother's loud talking on the phone. The boy frowned softly, his elegant features knitting together. Silently, he treaded back up the stairs to the girl's room and knocked gently on the door. "Honda-san?" The voice called out with a concerned tinge. "Are you feeling okay today?"
Somehow as she was sleeping, she turned to her side. Rather close to the edge of the bed no less. Her door never was locked, but she was glad Yuki held the generosity to knock before entering. Sure enough, the gentle voice had perked her ears causing the rest of her body to awaken. "..Yuki?" She must of been clueless as to just how close she was from loosing balance.
Maybe it was a dream? Perhaps she was hallucinating? Slowly sitting up, taking the back of her hands to rub at her eyes she spoke toward the door. "It's open.." Her answer seemed hesitated, and not replying at all to Yuki's question. Trying to regain her vision she yawned loudly and began some morning stretches.
Of course, it wasn't morning. All the same, it was one of Tohru's usual excersizes to wake her. Twists from side to side, side bends, sits up things of the like. She figured from the invitation, Yuki would let himself in. All the timing too, she was begining to wonder about his whereabouts lately.
Yuki hesitated for a moment, hoping that she wasn't in any disordered state that would be embarrassing to the both of them. He took a deep breath and pushed the door gently and revealing the room. "Honda-san..?" He spoke quietly once more as he took a soft step into the room, looking towards the girl and hoping she was alright. "People are beginning to arrive and I was worried when you were so quiet.." A soft smile crossed his expressions.
She's alright, that's wonderful. If she had been sick or injured in any way, Yuki probably would not have wanted to go to the outing and leave her at home on her own. Or worse yet, on her own with Shigure. Being the organized person he was, Yuki had already packed his belongings earlier in the day although now he slightly wished he hadn't. If he still had packing to do it would make a great excuse to hide from the snake.
Poor Tohru, still unorganized. Not very much like her, but she had been exhausted so much lately. Beaming as she often would with either Yuki or Kyou she wasn't thinking much of it, but patted the bed beside her. She was trying so desprately to gain a bond between Yuki and Ayame, but knew better than to force it.
Was company already arriving? Glancing at her door, it sounded too quiet for guests to already be in the house. The only thing she could remember was hearing Ayame from over anyhing else. Loud and estatic as ever. Laughing she shook her head, "Well I still need to pack and.." It was an obvious excuse to keep Yuki with her, atleast for now. She knew with his waking not too long ago he probably couldn't deal with Ayame. "Would you like to help me out?" Shifting back so the palms of her hands could support her weight on the bed, she still lacked any clue of what to bring along. Sometimes she could only wish she could keep up with herself.
Yuki was unsure of whether Tohru was actually being nice enough to help him hide away from Ayame for a while or she actually needed his help. Either way it was very welcome company and the boy moved over towards the bed, taking a seat by the girl for a moment. "I would love to be able to help you, Honda-san." He surveyed the room with a quiet smile at the clothes she had laid out.
She seemed to have been doing okay by herself so far, the boy looked at her with a gentle gaze while she wasn't noticing. Tohru did seem a little under the weather, he hoped she would take care of herself more and stop trying so hard. The boy had told her so once before and maybe it was time to gently remind her sometime soon.
"Honda-san," The boy began as he reached behind him to pick up an article of clothing. "If you ever need help with anything, you're always welcome to ask. Okay?" He turned to gaze directly at her with a sincere smile and paused for a moment.
A quick glance downward made him realize he had accidentally picked up a piece of clothing from Tohru's range of undergarments. He flushed a quiet red and fumbled for a moment, attempting to cover up the mistake by picking up one of her shirts and attempting to fold it. "I-I mean. You don't have to push yourself. Just work at your own pace."
Ah, but nothing escaped Tohru's vision! She saw it, that's right. Saw him folding her shirt! Fooled you huh? Yes, Tohru was too out of it to notice what he originally chose to pick up. Good thing too, that probably would of led to something quite akward. She still had to wonder what brought Yuki to speak of such conversation, but kept that to herself. "I will Yuki.." She trailed off, and as if she completly forgot about the reaction previously from the last time she tagged on a meek, "kun" at the end. Well, if things had happend like the last time, she had been spending a lot of time at school lately around all those fangirls right?
She caught herself, tagging on that nickname. Eyes large from the shock, she began to panic and flail her arms in attempt to correct herself, "I meant Yun-Yun?" Ohhh no good! That was what Manabe-san called Yuki half the time in school. She knew how much he hated it too! Now she was just digging a deeper hole!! Nerves all a fluster, she was trying so despratly hard not to make things worse out of what was a good situation. "I mean't Sohma-kun!" That's what it was, she'd of felt like a boulder was lifted from her shoulders. If she hadn't spouted off so many other nicknames first.
Dropping her head in defeat she sighed as her hands fell onto her lap and began to slightly cry from all the confusion. "I'm sorry it's just that sometimes I get ahead of myself and when I get ahead of myself I don't think and when I don't think..." She could of went on for hours, but let the tears speak for her. They wern't from saddness more from the moment at hand. "..I didn't mean it?" That would work, she'd only hope Yuki wouldn't think differently of her now, it was bad enough with her secret intentions she was only keeping him with her for the meanwhile so he wouldn't have to speak with Ayame.
Inevitably, it was bound to happen. Going against her own word, made her feel even more like a hypocrite. However, the extra help was a definite plus considering how unorganized she still felt. Change of topic! That'd be best for the two of them, still with slight tears she spoke softly, "I..hear the weathers' suppose to be nice for our trip" What was she going to do? She was feeling so disapointed in herself she couldn't stop the tears. Atleast they wern't actual, more just random.
It was at moments like this that the silver haired boy despised his curse. To be unable to reach out and comfort someone in their time of need. Especially someone so important as Tohru. The boy inwardly sighed quietly, the flush across his cheeks apparent now but whether from the previous act or from her calling him by his name he was unsure.
A bubble of happiness grew inside of him however, at the notion that Tohru was depending on him. The boy reached out a gently finger and brushed some hair away from her face before reaching back and gently wiping away some of the tears that trickled down. He wasn't able to reach out and hold her but this was a close enough gesture he hoped. Yuki smiled softly at her as he watched her forcibly collect herself.
"Un...the weather should be wonderful for our trip. We shall have a great time out in the open with our classmates." He placed the folded shirt down on the bed beside them. He stood up and moved over towards her empty suitcase, looking down into it and turning back to the girl. "How about, we help you finish packing and then..." I will make you something nice to eat. Although that option would probably turn into a disaster which was more of a trouble to Tohru that help. "I can help you cook." He dismissed the fact that the last time he had attempted to help, he was less than the polar opposite of elegant.
Going to reply, she was taken back by Yuki's actions. The more she thought about it, the two of them rarely had any time to spend alone, without something terrible occuring not to long after. Deciding to count her blessings at the silence atleast on the upstairs floor, she smiled while hearing him speak. Her nerves had been racked, but it was always a good thing to know Yuki hadn't let it get the best of him.
Then he mentioned food, and Tohru completly lost it. Gasping she fluttered from the bed to the floor. "Oh no!!" Flailing arms, and basically giving a second preformance she compeltly forgot about dinner. "What am I going to make?!!" She had been so deep in concern about what to pack, she forgot about what was more important. "There's going to be so many people too!!" She had to calm down, working herself up would do nothing but probably make Yuki try to console her and the inevitable that whenever she freaked out, a random transformation usually followed. "..I..I don't know what to do.."
With a sigh and quick manuever, she fell to her knees. Then she remembered Yuki offering his help. "I appreciate the offer but..things will never get done if I don't begin as soon as possible!" Shifting from her position, the strike of determination was obvious. Now that's the Tohru everyone should know and love. Speaking of that, she had a thought of Ayame and Yuki just then. If she ran off downstairs, odds are Yuki would follow and..
"Not yet!" She wasn't even finished packing, best to finish one before the other. "Okay!" With a clenched fist, she spun around in an about motion, motivated to finish her packing. Much to her dismay, she must not of noticed just how close she truly was standing to Yuki. Before she had the chance to say a word, she had fell right into him.
Kyou walked by Tohru's room just in time to see her collapse on top of Yuki turning him instantly into a rat. Opening his eyes widely his anger immediately started to build up. He whirled around and pointed a finger at the both of them. "I've been down there having to deal with both Shigure and your brother, Rat, and you two are up here goofing off!" he announced loudly as he began to stomp into the room getting more frustrated every second... until he realized something was wrapped around his foot. Looking down he saw that it was some of Tohru's undergarments. Blushing Madly he automatically yelled "you should keep your room cleaner!"
It was at that moment that Momiji decided to hop into Tohru's room to help her with her packing, and saw a frilly thing wrapped around Kyou's foot. The cat himself was currently turning red, and look rather like a beetroot with orange hair. And then he saw Tohru looking really flustered with a rat Yuki seated amongst a pile of clothes that probably belonged to human Yuki. He felt a wrench at his heart, and felt very queer indeed. Later on he would find out that this feeling was jealousy, but for now he just felt like hugging Tohru too so that he'd be able to transform into a rabbit.
And so he did, much to the horror of the two older Sohmas, and Tohru herself.
With a characteristic "poof!", Momiji transformed into a yellow rabbit, his mouth curving into a toothy grin. "Transforming is fun!" he declared cheerily, hugging Tohru once again, except that this time he was in bunny-form.
First Yuki, then Kyou, now..Momiji?!
It was too much to handle. Yes, she definatly felt faint. As if problems with Yuki wern't enough now she had everyone knowing what she wore underneath it all. Plus, to top it off Kyou just barges in and then Momiji must of felt left out so..
She didn't know what to do, or what to say. Not in this prediciment. So, she let her emotions speak for her. Collapsing to the floor again, beside a currently transformed Yuki and Momiji she put her palms over her face to hide from them. "I..I'm so sorry"
For some reason, she felt like it was all her fault. Apparently, she just wasn't used to the concept of people fighting over her to gain her attention all on them. Whatever the case, she had nothing else to say. She just wished this had never happend, why couldn't she be less clumsy sometimes?
Oh, Momiji. Yuki didn't quite understand why the boy was like that, however right now it looked like he would have to calm himself and try to get a hold of the situation. It wasn't that easy seeing as he was quite a lot smaller than he was before. The boy took a deep breath and looked around the room. The rat struggled out of the pile of clothes for a moment and bounced down to the floor, he scurried over to the bedroom door and shut it with a large strain off effort in an attempt to stop more people charging in and making the sitaution worse.
He took another deep breath. Momiji seemed to have the situation under control, Tohru-wise. As much as Yuki wanted to comfort the girl, maybe this wasn't the time. He looked over towards her with a quiet lingering gaze for a moment before staring back towards Kyou. "Baka-neko! All you can do is charge in yelling and screaming! Why don't you help out for a change!"
Well, that was one resolution already broken. Try to get along with the cat...right? Yuki scurried back over to Tohru for a moment, patting her knee with one paw before moving towards a pile of her clothes, attempting with his little body to fold them, succeeding in really just pushing the pile of material around.
Watching Yuk proceed to the door, then back again trying so desprately to still help made her forget anything was wrong in the first place. Stiffling a laugh, Yuki trying to fold her clothing was a spectacle indeed. Talking the palm of her hand, she brushed away her tears. She thought maybe if she said something, even if Yuki had instigated Kyou would cease. Unable to contain her laughter, she let it out. It was something that wasn't heard often, but usually it'd make any situation all better.
Thinking about it that way, she felt like a doctor. Oh, but what were the odds of that? Standing only long enough to kneel once again beside Yuki and fold up the clothing he was so despratly pursuing to do alone she patted him on the head. Not in a 'good boy' dog kind of way, but just more-so as in 'nice try.' Well, at least for now she felt better.
Just as he was about to pull that aggravating rabbit off of Tohru, Kyou's face softened as he watched the brunette begin to slowly break down. Un-clenching his fists he quickly bothered himself with kicking the undergarments off of his foot so that nobody would see his sudden change of expression, although he did flinch when Yuki yelled at him. He had just snapped his head up and opened his mouth to argue when Tohru began...laughing?
He raised an eyebrow curiously. "Momiji, you and that Rat have obviously driven her mad!" he announced before he turned to leave and continued with, "I don't want any part of this!" His actions stated otherwise as he stopped right before he got to the door and he wasn't sure why he was doing it.
Hana stood outside of Shigure's house, Megumi close behind her as she gazed up at the place where Yuki, Tohru, and Kyou spent most of their days. Truth be told, Hana envied the two boys and all the time they got to spent with Tohru. How different would it be if she had known Tohru's situation and had offered her own home? Tohru would never have gotten involved with the Sohma clan and all their problems, and the two would be even closer than before.
The girl gave a soft sigh. Well, there was no use brooding on it. After all, plenty of good had come out of it. Yuki and Kyou had most definitely changed since Tohru first started to get to know them, and Tohru herself had grown visibly stronger. Well, visible to Hana. Still - she was jealous that she hadn't instigated Tohru's growth herself.
Her dark eyes lifted to the window she knew was Tohru's, and one eyebrow lifted delicately as she noticed the commotion of the shadows and denpa within. "Come, Megumi-chan," she said suddenly, moving toward the door and entering without even knocking, only pausing long enough to remove her shoes. She could hear a familiar voice in the other room, but Hana was more interested in what was going on in Tohru's room.
Upon reaching the top of the stairs, she spotted Kyou just about to come through the door. She glided up to him, seemingly out of nowhere. "Ah, Souma Kyou," she said breathily. "What's going on? I sense such strange waves..."
Yuki slumped down on the spot as he watched Tohru help him, a soft rat-smile crossing his features as he received a pat from the girl. A happy feeling bubbled through him just watching her laugh and enjoy herself once more. Seeing Tohru break down was a worry. At least now she was feeling slightly back to normal.
The boy wanted to snap back at Kyo but refused to allow the moment to be ruined. Instead he looked towards the girl. "I'm glad you're feeling better, Honda-san." He sat there quietly, looking around him for a moment before piping back up once more. "How about...we get take-out tonight so you can just enjoy the night with the rest of us?"
It wasn't like they couldn't afford it anyway. As much as he would love to enjoy Tohru's cooking, enjoying her company was much more pleasurable.
