Isaiah 52
1 Awake, awake, O Zion,
clothe yourself with strength.
Put on your garments of splendor,
O Jerusalem, the holy city.
The uncircumcised and defiled
will not enter you again.

2 Shake off your dust;
rise up, sit enthroned, O Jerusalem.
Free yourself from the chains on your neck,
O captive Daughter of Zion.

3 For this is what the LORD says:
"You were sold for nothing,
and without money you will be redeemed."

I wanted to start the post with this Scripture. As I was reading Erin's post earlier, God reminded me of this, and how important it is to stand in the truth that I have been redeemed by Him, and to walk in His truth, grace, and mercy. This will be a key verse for me in 2007, as I am sure other Scriptures will be.

Here are the highlights of 2006, as I like to post these each year now when I remember to.

January: My first new hire class started. The cool thing about this is that all 3 people are still here, about to celebrate their 1 year anniversary with the company!!!! Also went to the DSO Star Wars concert with Liz, Miriam, Ann, Jen, Darin, and Kara.

February: Went to the NFL Experience with Chris. Pittsburgh Steelers win Super Bowl XL in Detroit. My Grandmother had open heart surgery, and came through it great!

March: My mom has her first surgery to move a damaged ulnar nerve. Went to Syracuse with Chris to visit my grandmother.

April: Saw Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Troy High (my alma mater) with Chris' mom and Laurie. Went on my first business trip.

May: I turned 30. Chris' cousin was fired from her job at a local sports radio station. Aaron Matthew Caughel was born. Chris' mom had successful surgery.

June: Went 5 pin bowling for the first time, in honor of Jaime and Jolene's bachlorette party! We had our last gathering of the Richmond group. Went to Jeff and Jolene's wedding. Began many visits to the hospital to see Chris' grandfather, as his health took a turn. I began the Weigh 2 Go program that my insurance company sponsors. So far I've only lost about 10 pounds, but am learning great lifestyle changes.

July: Mom has her 2nd surgery for ulnar nerve damage on her opposite arm (I can't remember which arm was first). We would later find out that the surgeries were unsuccessful, and the process began to file for disability. Zack and Jaime got married, was unable to attend the wedding. Chris' grandfather passed away on the last day of the month.

August: First week of the month was centered around Chris' grandfather's funeral. The following week I attended one day of jury duty (thankfully, never got picked!!!) It was a busy month at work, as we were involved in a pilot for customer service with the company. I went to the American Idol concert with Jennifer (from work) and Michelle (Chris' cousin). Had my 2nd business trip for work. Judy Willett had a stroke, which God used for His glory in amazing ways (praise God she is improving greatly now!!!)

September: Fantasy football officially began. I was in 6 leagues, including one with some guys from the ministry. It was a cool opportunity to relate with them, and not too wierd being the only girl. I got Chris to go to a Tiger game for work (a miracle in itself). One of my best friends who lives in Oregon was in town for a wedding, so I got to see him for the first time in 2 years.

October: Chris' uncle's father passed away. This was the 2nd grandfather for his cousins to pass away this year. God allowed many trials this year for his aunt & uncle's family. May these trials continue to reveal God to them, and may they grow closer to Him in the year ahead. Went to Syracuse again to see my grandmother. Celebrated my 1 year anniversary as a trainer. We had a visit to our work from a girl in India. She is from a company that does external monitoring for us. It was a nice visit.

November: This was a quiet month. First Thanksgiving without Chris' grandpa. Everyone got through it well. The Dolphins beat the Lions, bringing sweet poetic justice to Joey Harrington.

December: A very busy month!!! Went to the De La Salle craft fair, now an annual tradition with Chris' mom, my mom, and Chris' aunt and cousin. Started going to Bally's thanks to an early Christmas gift from Chris' mom. Many Christmas parties. Got Chris to go to a Red Wings game for work, in which we played lots of Euchre (I did watch some of the game, I promise!!!). Made cookies with Michelle. Went to the K of C breakfast, and the ministry spaghetti dinner/Christmas play. The Christmas play was cool, and I enjoyed watching our kids do so well!!! This was also my last month as an hourly employee, as January 1 changed me to salary. One not so happy thing in December came when Chris' cousin's boyfriend was let go at his job.

That's the year in review. It had it's ups and downs, but I am grateful for the opportunity to walk through some of the trials with others, as it revealed my heart for others, and also showed me things that God wanted to remove/heal (such as worry, selfishness, stress). For 2007, here are some things to look forward to (not in any particular order):

1. God's love and grace to prevail more.
2. More workouts at Bally's and Weigh 2 Go.
3. Goal to cook 1 recipe (preferably a new one) each week.
4. Visit to Tampa to see my cousin and Aunt.
5. At least 2 weddings in the summer.
