xX part 4 - TeukZhouRy // sometimes feel like they do not belong
“Look down. What do you see?”
Henry peered out of windows to look at the view from high above the city. Zhou Mi also tiptoed slightly to look over Henry’s fluffy hair.
“What are we looking at hyung?” Zhou Mi asked.
Leeteuk did not reply. He drew the curtains and walked off.
“Zhou Mi ge ge, what’s wrong with Leeteuk hyung?” Henry asked, pulling Zhou Mi’s sleeve. Zhou Mi shook his head to indicate that he did not know and ran towards Leeteuk.
“Hyung? You okay?” Zhou Mi asked and turned Leeteuk around. To his horror, Leeteuk’s face was one of grim sadness. Leeteuk did not cry, however. Gritting his teeth, the leader of Super Junior shrugged Zhou Mi’s hand off his shoulder.
“It’s nothing,” Leeteuk snarled. Suddenly noticing the hurt look in Zhou Mi’s eyes, Leeteuk’s eyes softened. “I’m sorry. It’s really nothing.”
“Are you sure?” Zhou Mi said, withdrawing. “You look rather-”
“Leeteuk hyung, Zhou Mi hyung, can we go down?” Henry wailed in broken Korean. “It’s lonely being up here.”
Zhou Mi looked at Leeteuk who turned away to avoid Zhou Mi’s gaze. Zhou Mi had nailed it. Leeteuk was lonely. He always was lonely. Even though he was the leader and always worked hard, it never seemed enough. He never lived up to the expectations of the world. It was depressing. Leeteuk bit his lip in frustration.
“Hyung,” Zhou Mi began but Leeteuk stormed out of the room. Henry and Zhou Mi looked at each other and gave chase to their leader.
“Hyung!” the both of them called, but Leeteuk ran faster and faster. His vision blurred. He had no direction of where he was running. He just knew he couldn’t face any of them. He was a ridiculous leader, he thought bitterly.
“Watch out! Leeteuk hyung!”
A resounding crash filled the corridor of the hotel. Glass shards rained down like crystals, water splashed everywhere. Leeteuk could barely make out the sound of the tinkling glass and thumping footsteps. In front of him, he saw a blood covered hand and his eyes widened. Someone was injured! Leeteuk tried to reach out for the hand to quickly clean the wounds. But strangely so, he had no energy to do so.
“Oh my gosh hyung! Don’t move!”
I can’t move anyway, Leeteuk thought and wondered at it.
“Shh Henry! His wounds aren’t so bad, but I think he’s paralysed from the shock. Come on, use the water from the jar to clean his wounds.”
So I am the injured one, Leeteuk thought wordlessly.
“Come on, we need to get him back to the room!”
“Right!”
“Why bother? Just leave me,” Leeteuk wondered, not knowing that he spoke out aloud.
Zhou Mi and Henry looked at Leeteuk with a shocked expression. “Why? You have to be down at the party too!”
“I don’t need to be there.”
“You’re the leader hyung,” Zhou Mi spoke slowly, unsure if Leeteuk was perhaps hallucinating. “You need to be down there. Come on, we’ll get you changed out of your wet clothes.”
“Not really,” Leeteuk said in a half-snarl. “Everyone hates me. You know this.”
“Hyung, how can you say that?” Henry squeaked, tears in his eyes because Leeteuk had fallen into such a state of depression. “How can we hate you? If anything, Zhou Mi and I are the most hated…”
Leeteuk smiled indifferently as Zhou Mi carried him in a piggy-back style back to the room with Henry trailing behind. “You must be dreaming. You all are loved so much. Unlike me, a leaderwho is unable to do anything. I’m really pathetic. Wouldn’t it be better if you all just-”
“Shut up Leeteuk!” Zhou Mi shouted forcefully. He stopped in his tracks and Leeteuk weakly turned his head. “No! I’m not going to leave you, and neither is Henry. Now please be quiet until we get back to the room to clean you up.” Zhou Mi gripped Leeteuk tighter and started off again.
“I don’t deserve your kindness,” Leeteuk whispered sadly.
“Hyung please, calm down and rest,” Henry said, his voice trembling. “Come on Zhou Mi ge ge, bring him in here. That’s it, on the bed.”
Leeteuk vision was blurring again. He was so tired, tired of being sad, tired of being angry, tired of being tired. He closed his eyes when Zhou Mi lay him against the soft sheets of the bed.
“I’ll get a first aid kit from the hotel manager or something, okay Henry?” Zhou Mi suggested. “You stay here and help Leeteuk change into dry clothes.” Henry nodded quickly and immediately pulled Leeteuk’s clothes bag and rummaged through it. He pulled out a blazer and white shirt along with a pair of clean trousers.
Henry prodded Leeteuk gently until Leeteuk’s eyes fluttered slowly open. “Hyung, I’ll help you to change okay?” Henry asked, lifting up the clothes. Leeteuk nodded. Since he was not already wearing a blazer, his shirt and flesh had been torn by the falling glass. Henry sat on the bed and carefully started to remove Leeteuk’s shirt.
“Henry,” Leeteuk whispered softly.
“Yes hyung?” Henry asked, carefully unbuttoning Leeteuk’s shirt so as not to touch any injuries.
“…thank you.”
Henry looked up in surprise at Leeteuk. Then his mouth broke into a smile and he leaned down to kiss the angel softly on the cheek. Both Henry and Leeteuk were surprised when Henry finally moved away, but both of them felt their sadness lift a little.
“I’m back with the medicine,” Zhou Mi announced, walking through the door with a first-aid kit in his hand. “Henry, you go down and tell everyone that we’ll be down shortly. You can come back up after that if you want.” Henry ran off.
“Zhou Mi,” Leeteuk started to say but Zhou Mi cut him off.
“No Leeteuk, I don’t want to hear any of it,” Zhou Mi said firmly, using no formalities on the leader. “We don’t hate you and nobody hates you. Don’t keep saying something stupid like that or you might end up believing yourself. Just rest for now. You have to come down later.”
“But I-”
“Leeteuk!” Zhou Mi cried sharply. “Please just… I don’t want to listen!”
“But Zhou Mi…!” Leeteuk tried to say again.
Suddenly, Leeteuk’s mouth was clamped over by Zhou Mi’s lips, rendering him unable to speak. Zhou Mi’s kiss was gentle but firm, coupled with a soft embrace so as not to hurt the fragile angel in his arms. It only lasted for a short time, but the both of them felt like forever. Zhou Mi broke away quickly, feeling less hurt in his heart. He looked at Leeteuk whose damp eyes were shut and lay as if he were sleeping.
Zhou Mi smiled gently and started to clean Leeteuk’s wounds with antiseptic. By and by, he heard mumbling and turned to see Leeteuk’s eyes staring warmly into his, full of gratefulness. Zhou Mi started to say something but was stopped short when he heard Leeteuk’s words.
“Thank you.”
Leeteuk managed a faint smile before his head went slack. His peaceful sleeping expression made him look all the more like an angel. Zhou Mi heard soft footsteps and turned around.
“Hyung?”
“Yes Henry?”
“I think we both owe him our thanks too.”
“…yeah.”
end.
