April comes | G
Kyuhyun ; Ryeowook
like the spring rain bringing sadness, then bringing life.
“I’m sorry.”
Ryeowook didn’t want to believe it.
“I’m really sorry!”
Ryeowook wasn’t going to forgive him! Kyuhyun was such a spoilt idiot, always doing as he wished, and Ryeowook couldn’t tolerate him anymore.
Kyuhyun bit his trembling lip, trying to control his tears as Ryeowook shouted everything he had feared that Ryeowook would shout and then leave him before he could explain himself. Hands clenching, Kyuhyun winced as the sound of the door slamming resounded like the last thump of the hammer trying to break his heart into two.
And Ryeowook had left Kyuhyun in a rage, not knowing that Kyuhyun would leave him that night to taste the scent of blood, to be almost-kidnapped away by the darkness, to scar him forever with the nightmare of the fact that Ryeowook might never, ever, forgive Kyuhyun.
It happened in April.
Four years ago.
---
“I’m sorry.”
Ryeowook didn’t want to believe it.
“I’m really sorry!”
Ryeowook wasn’t going to forgive him! Kyuhyun was such a spoilt idiot, always doing as he wished, breaking Ryeowook’s heart again and again, driving him into a frenzy into making him believe that he was going to disappear like sand in the wind from Ryeowook’s life, peppering the spring with salty rain and bitter memories.
And so the nightmare resurfaced.
But Ryeowook’s heart had been set in steel, four years ago, to forgive Kyuhyun. Because the nightmare did not just belong to him, it belonged to Kyuhyun because of him.
So he wasn’t going to let it happen. Not this spring. Not this April. Not this time.
A feeble smile flickered across Kyuhyun’s face when Ryeowook had abandoned everything he was doing at that moment just to fall into position at Kyuhyun’s bedside in the hospital to make sure the younger man was okay. Kyuhyun was scared. Not of Ryeowook of course, but of the recurring nightmare.
Was it going to ensnare Ryeowook again?
A sharp, stinging palm cut Kyuhyun’s cheek, but the tears that came to Kyuhyun’s eyes was the pain from the truth. Ryeowook’s eyes were stained with streaks of fear and horror and immense regret.
“I’m sorry.”
Kyuhyun did want to believe it.
“I’m really sorry!”
But Ryeowook’s wail was left unheard, because all Kyuhyun could hear in the first April of his life was the sweet thumping of Ryeowook’s heart when he fell into the arms of the older man, the man who finally released him from his nightmare, the man he loved.
end.
