The Academy Is - manchester academy 3
The Academy Is with support from The Maine and We The Kings.
Doors opened at 7pm for some reason and what time did I manage to get off work?!? 6:30! This means we didn't arrive at the Academy until at least 8:30 which also means we missed ALL of the The Maine and only got to see Check Yes Juliet by We The Kings. VERY pissed off.
The Academy Is came on at 9pm and played until a measly 10pm. All that way for an hour...not to mention the £30 spent on fuel and £15 for the actual gig...I'm meant to be saving up! The Academy 3, the room they were playing in, is amazing for intimate gigs as it's absolutely tiny (about 500 people max...if even that) but piss-poor for sound quality. However, The Academy Is were absolutely amazing despite that and you could actually hear William Beckett singing for the majority of the show...that's if he wasn't drowned out by everyone singing along with passion. The set list consisted of the following songs (not in this order):

So they managed to fit loads into that hour! It was weird 'cos it seemed to go so fast though and me and Ashley were waiting for Skeptics and True Believers as it's pretty much the only one she knows but, alas, it never came. We'd had enough bad luck trying to get there that day that we were expecting that anyway...
We decided not to stay and try to meet anyone cos I was extremely hungry having not managed to eat since 1pm that day so we went for a chicken burger and some chips. Contemplated going to Big Hands, decided not too and went to get Eleanor who'd been watching her boyfriend's band just over the road.
A good night and worth the troubles we went through that day to get there!
