Another Rant That Very Few People Will Comment On...

Feb 07, 2005 19:38

Well, I'm sure you're all like "wow, what the fuck!?! Ferris' written two decently large rants in 2 days! WTF is going on!?! And what else could he have to bitch about?". Well... today we're going to do something I haven't done in a long time. A long long long time. We're going to delve into politics. And let me say if you're going to try to fight back with some pissy liberal pussy rant, I've got a picture for you.

Alright. That gets the message across clear enough, I hope. Anyhow, in the words of the immortal Mills Lane, "Let's Get It On!"

So here's the deal. I'm agnostic. I'm pretty certain there's no God. I could be wrong. And if I am, I'm probably going to "Hell". But I'm fairly certain THAT isnt there either. Anyhow, despite the fact that I'm agnostic, I've got no fucking problem with other people believing in the religion of their choice. I may think its stupid, yeah, but for all I care you can worship Buddha, Vishnu, Bjolamus, God, or even fucking Carrot Top for all I care. Although if you worship Carrot Top, I'm pretty sure there's an exception to "Hell-Not-Existing" just for you. I really dont care whether you're a Christian, a Jew, a Hindu, or a Muslim (although I'll admit, I really DONT trust Muslims, for obvious reasons. "Peaceful Islam" anybody?) And I believe the fucking Constitution of the United States of America gives you the freedom to have your own beliefs, to worship your own gods, to live your life as you want. And THAT is what makes America truly great.

This is where the problem emerges. Despite the fact that I'm agnostic and dont quite believe in any particular religion, I recognize the fact that this country was built upon the base belief in our freedoms under GOD, and as such, there are references to GOD and religion throughout our American culture, beginning with the DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE. The Bill Of Rights are our unalienable rights under GOD! So it is EASY to see that our country was established under an umbrella of judeo-christian beliefs. And once again, let me reitterate. I do not believe in God. I do not subscribe to any religion. I do not believe in anything other than the will and power of mankind, and even my faith in that is shaky at times. But I do support and understand the rights we all have to belive in these things. And the fact that our government is based upon these things. That's why I have a huge problem with what the liberals -such as the ACLU- have been doing, want to do, and if we don't stop them, will do.

Let's start with the Pledge of Allegiance. There is very very few things that our government asks you to do, in remembrance and acknowledgement of all that our country has fought for and stood for since its birth in 1776. Knowing and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance is one of these things. And you only have to do it for 12 years. It is a solemn pledge that you make as an American citizen, to uphold the morals and values which our country stands for. It is what the name says... a pledge of allegiance to our flag which has flown for freedom for over 200 years. A remembrance in part, of every American soul that has come and gone before, every soul that has fought and died to keep your freedoms... your freedoms to live as you wish, to believe in what you wish, or to not believe in anything at all. And so is The National Anthem. The Star Spangled Banner. It is again, a simple reminder of what sacrifices were made to ensure our rights. Neither one of these things are bad. Neither one of these things are offensive or hurtful...

HOWEVER. The ACLU and other radical-left organizations and people would ban these things from public use. They'd have the Pledge of Allegiance torn from our schools, because it mentions God. They'd have the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution remain untaught in school, as they make light of our unalienable rights under GOD. They would and DO completely distort history to remove anything they find undesirable... such as the religious basis for our country. And in doing this, they warp each generation further and further away from the truth of things. These... for a lack of a better term... (and it severely pains me to say this, as it basically places me in the same category as them, BECAUSE I'm agnostic) ... atheists... would see that anything having to do with any religion is purged from our history. And from our present. The horrifying fact is that they are actually ACCOMPLISHING this!

Right now, the ACLU has won multiple lawsuits over having the Ten Commandments in town halls and courts! Over this past holiday season, countless lawsuits were filed over NATIVITY scenes in churches and yards! Schools were forced to remove holiday songs containing any semblence of ANY religious context in them! Department stores were threatened into not playing Christmas music! Currently the ACLU is attempting to have religious holidays REMOVED from schools, meaning no Christmas break, no Jewish holidays, NOTHING. These liberals' war on religion is completely and totally disgusting! So what if you dont fucking believe in it? I dont believe in it either! But it's not like teachers are whipping out Bibles and spouting rheoteric and school kids!

Oh thats right. They wouldnt be doing that anyhow, because our education system is so incredibly liberal that they go so far as not even teach what Thanksgiving was really created for! No, Thanksgiving was NOT a day in which the pilgrims thanked the Indians. No, instead they thanked GOD. And when Thanksgiving became a national holiday? Well, here's George Washington's Thanksgiving Proclomation in 1789:

"Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor -- and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me "to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness."

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be -- That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks -- for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation -- for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the tranquility [sic], union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed -- for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted -- for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.
And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions -- to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually -- to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed -- to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn [sic] kindness onto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord -- To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease [sic] of science among them and us -- and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand at the City of New York
the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

George Washington "

I'm almost POSITIVE you never saw that in school. I know I didnt. Why? Because it has religious subtexts. Because that is where the basis of our country lies. And that is a horrible offense, according to liberals. But, I digress. I didnt get into this rant to beat up our educational system... no, I'll do that some day soon. Today was about religion.

Now allow me to sum this up and move on to a new topic. As I've said multiple times, I am not a religious person. I dont believe in anything. I do believe however, that this country was founded upon a religious base, and that everyone.. no matter their religion or lack off... needs to respect that. We cannot deny this fact, and we should not deny it. We should not try to remove all evidence of it. We should not try to go so far as to remove all religion from everyday life. We should respect the God given freedoms that our country upholds. We should teach these facts in schools. We should never deny our history and heritage. We're American citizens, in an America founded upon morals and values. I hope you all get what I'm saying here. Anyhow, on to my next topic. Dont worry, this one'll be shorter.

Abortion. Ugh. In my opinion there are only two factors which should lead to abortion: 1) If a girl is raped and becomes pregnant, or 2) If the birth of the child endangers the life of the mother due to physical reasons. Other than that, abortion is a heinous act, that rewards people's stupidity. Essentially it boils down to this: What right do you have to end a life, merely because of the fact that "oops! I fucked up and opened up my legs, and damn, I got pregnant and I dont want it!" You knew the risks when you did what you did. And you should have to live with it. No one should be able to just shove aside their mistakes without having to atone for them. It's not right. Especially when it involves the death of another. Now this is where the screaming liberals say "OMG HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT THE DEATH PENALTY THEN, HYPOCRITE!?!" Well this is where I say "FUCK YOU, YOU'RE FUCKING STUPID."

The Death Penalty punishes those who have commited an act of such cruelty and of such a malicious nature that they can no longer live among the general population. Abortion ends a life that has barely started, a life that hasnt gotten to live yet. It is morally wrong. It is horribly wrong. It is essentially the same thing we send murderers to jail for: ending innocent lives. Saying "OMG my boyfriend is cheating, ABORTION!!!" or "OMG my boyfriend doesnt want a kid and wont stay with me, ABORTION!!!" or "OMG my parents'll kick me out and disown me, ABORTION!!!"... these are NOT valid excuses for killing someone. Even if they haven't started their life yet. Denying them the opportunity, the chance... it's just not right. Everyone should be held accountable for their actions. Everyone.

And with that... I'm done. My arm hurts from typing and work today, and my head hurts pretty bad too. I hope you people will read this and think long and hard about things. You'll be surprised by how right I am.
