Hi all! Just some admin notes:
1) I've been updating our memories as we get posts that look like they'd be good resources for people. I was wondering if anybody out there would like to volunteer to help out with that, to make sure our memories are always up to date? If interested, let me know in the comments. [ETA: swmbo and lexsboo have volunteered to help with the memories.]
2) Additional ideas suggested in the initial post that nobody had any objections to were:
a) Fannish Freecycling: posting offers of things you'd like to give away for free, or at least in exchange for the cost of shipping and handling
b) Discussion of simplifying one's life to help get rid of unnecessary things.
c) Alerts to sales and discounts available to anyone via the web
Since nobody had any objections, we're going to consider those things to be included as on-topic posts, and when I get a chance I'll update the userinfo accordingly.
3) One additional topic that had a caveat on it was alerts about local sales. People were interested in this and so far it has seemed useful, but there was a request for these to perhaps be cut-tagged with a note about what location the sale applied to. That way people over in England wouldn't get bored by reading all the sales in the US, for example, or even people over in California wouldn't have to be bothered with notices about sales that are East Coast only. Is this something anybody has problems with doing? Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?
