Philadelphia Liphe

So its now been a week and a half since we've moved to Philadelphia and things are starting to roll forward, but at an achingly slow pace.

Some fun tidbits about life in Philadelphia.

People run red lights.
Its hot, and you're less inclined to use the A/C when its YOU paying the electrical bill.
Phillycarshare is a pretty sweet program.
I"m loving the little details in the Fairmount area.
The Gargoyles mounted on the neighbor's walls across the street from our apt [picture pending]
The Horse-headed posts (i'm blanking on the exact term) a couple blocks away
The narrow Philadelphia streets lined with rowhouses.  The living rooms run straight up to the sidewalk, so you can always peek in.
The Philadelphia Art Museum - literally across the street
Ben Franklin Parkway - An American Champs Elysees (if Wikipedia is to be believed, then it was designed with the C-E in mind) which affords an incredible view from the Art Museum to Downtown.
The Pug Statue - a block and a half from our apartment, there is a larger-than-life statue of a Pug.  The thing is about 4 feet tall and can be seen in a couple photographs on this website.

I'll keep my eye out for other things of interest in the Fairmount area. But it's a cool place to be living.  [I know that sounds lame, but I'm tired and need sleep].

In other news (don't tell Niki) but Katrina's sleeping on top of our new bookshelf.  Her tail is hanging just over the edge of the bookshelf, for an added ounce of cuteness.  For those not in the know, Katrina is a friend's cat who is boarding with us for the week. She is, as her name suggests, of New Orleans stock, and was adopted/rescued as the city was evacuated before the storm.  She is very talkative and curious.  Upon returning from the grocery store tonight, she crawled from one paper bag into another, incredibly fascinated  by each and every bag placed on the floor.  Last night, she managed to jump to the top of the fridge where we had some glasses stored. One was knocked over into the sink and onto a glass, one of a set of six given to N and Myself.  They both broke, though fortunately into the sink.  She's also managed to burrow into the underlining of our couch - kitty bungalow, anyone?

But that is all for now.
