Christmas Cheer

chocolate filled
advent calendar
sits behind the desk
in dust.
trees lacking
lights and shine,
snowless on their own.
angels left in boxes
crying under paper
discarded and forsaken.
blue music crooning
through an empty house,
like any other day.
no christmas cheer
to be found here.
