Finally. I finally got around to doing this! I've been planning a Sylar/Claire fanmix since the season 3 finale, but only now have I found the time. The cover changed a million times, I have to tell you, so hopefully I picked the right one. It includes 10 songs, featuring the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Kooks, Stars, and more. Behind the cut is a sampling of the lyrics and a little explanation as to why I chose each song, and of course the download link. Hopefully you'll enjoy!

"it's times like these where silence means everything, and no one is to know about this"
If you need me
I'm out and on the parkway,
patient and waiting for headlights,
dressed in a fashion that's fitting to the
inconsistencies of my moods
It's times like these, where silence means everything
And no one is to know about this
It's times like these, where silence means everything
And no one is to know about this
It's a campaign of distraction
and revisionist history, oh
//This is on of those possible future ones. It describes a lot of what I think it would be like for them if they were to have some sort of secret relationship. Although the lyrics are kind of vague and difficult to understand at times, it's really the tone of the song that makes it so good for Sylar/Claire. It's jumbled and angry and yet kind of slow and beautiful. Which pretty much describes them in a nutshell.//
one more night // stars
"and tell him right now, that you wish he would die"
He starts with her back cause that's what he sees
When she's breaking his heart she still fucks like a tease
Release to the sky, look him straight in the eye
And tell him right now, that you wish he would die
You'll never touch him again so get what you can
Leaving him empty just because he's a man
So good when it ends, they'll never be friends
One more night, that's all they can spend
//Oh, hate!sex time, woohoo! It's not a staple of Sylar/Claire fanfiction for no reason. It's just so very them, and is sure to happen at some point in their very long future together. This song has the perfect lyrics and melody for just that. Especially the line: he falls to his knees, says "please, my love, please. I'll kill who you hate, take off that dress you won't freeze", which Sylar would, by the way.//
he loves you // the pretty reckless
"if he loves you, he loves you not"
if he loves you
he loves you not
be the one to leave him
baby, don't get caught
if he loves you
set your heart on fire
hate to be the one to tell you
he's a liar
if he loves you, he loves you not
//I instantly thought of them when I heard this. This mostly describes how screwed up their entire relationship is. It's a dirty, creepy game of cat and mouse and, as much as I adore Sylar, he is one twisted bastard. This is just one of the reasons why they're so perfect, though.//
wine red // the hush sound
"give your immortality to me, i'll set you up against the stars"
This chaos, this calamity, this garden once was perfect
Give your immortality to me, I'll set you up against the stars
Gloria,
We lied, we can't go on
This is the time and this is the place to be alive
The sea is wine red
This is the death of beauty
The doves have died
The lovers have lied
//This song was the catalyst for this whole mix and the source of it's name. I think it's a pretty way of talking about his attack and taking her ability and it's effects. The "death of beauty" is Claire getting all screwed up and revenge-seeking. Revenge which she deserves, obviously. The whole song just talks about immortality a lot, which is a big part of why Sylar and Claire are destined, and all that.//
kiss, kiss // yeah yeah yeahs
"it's all cute 'til someone dies"
Now move I'm gonna come dry
I dropped my musings out of sight
I drank until the waters dried
It's all cute 'til someone dies
Shoot my name up every vein
You can't get hurt, you can't complain
No feet, no hands, no tail, no lies
He's got youth on his side
Everywhere kiss me
Everywhere kids speak
No catch, no beat
Well, everywhere kiss, everywhere kiss me
//This is my favorite song on here. ♥ And one of the most perfect for Sylar/Claire, in my opinion. The we three, we three in the dark tonight is Sylar/Claire(+Gabriel). Given recent events on the show and the fact that, somewhere in Sylar there has always been the sweet, geeky Gabriel Gray, I think his inclusion in the mix is necesary. Plus, lines like it's all cute 'til someone dies and he's got youth on his side are absolutely perfect for the couple. And the loud drums and yelling are just a bonus.//
peachy // missy higgins
"i'm half me and half you, but i hate us both, don't you?"
It's not my fault, it can't be my fault that you speak to me the way you do.
Now I'm split in two, I'm half me half you but I hate us both, don't you?
No of course you don't, of course you don't
You said life is peachy without me
Of course you don't, of course you don't
You said life is peachy without me
//I kinda think this one speaks for itself. I mean, come on, name me a line in this song that doesn't fit them perfectly. It especially pertains to how Sylar compares himself to her in Dual. It's my strong belief that he really does know her that well.//
don't cry out // shiny toy guns
"the perfect game to play"
I was pretending
Your secret kiss of confidence
Was my escape
The perfect game to play...
Don't cry out
Cease fire
Ten, nine, eight, and I'm breaking away
I'm all dressed up and I'm ready to play
Seven, six, five, four, and I'm all over you
Counting three, two, one, and I'm having fun...
//This song describes exactly how their future together could be. How Claire still doesn't trust him, but needs him, and they "cease fire". But what is maybe a perfect description is the ten, nine, eight and i'm breaking away - letting go of her family and friends after they die- i'm all dressed up and i'm ready to play - kind of fighting, kind of loving Sylar- seven, six, five, four and i'm all over you - giving up the fighting and just loving him- counting three, two, one and i'm having fun -finally finding hapiness after everything that's happened. I find it kind of beautiful.//
buildings and bridges // ani difranco
"and turn every scar into a joke"
Buildings and bridges
are made to bend in the wind
to withstand the world,
that's what it takes
All that steel and stone
is no match for the air, my friend
what doesn't bend breaks
what doesn't bend breaks
we are made to bleed
and scab and heal and bleed again
and turn every scar into a joke
we are made to fight
and fuck and talk and fight again
and sit around and laugh until we choke
sit around and laugh until we choke
//How much do I love this song for existing? It's just so raw and peaceful and lovely. Sylar and Claire are the buildings and bridges. More injury lyrics? Yes, I know. But it fits them so well. I'd really love it if they could get to a point where they could actually sit around and laugh until they choke. (Which totally wouldn't be a problem, but because of them being speacial regeneration twins!)//
naive // the kooks
"well, she's still out to get me"
I'm not saying its your fault
Although you could have done more
Oh you're so naive yet so
How could this been done
By such a smiling sweetheart.
Oh and your sweet and pretty face
In such an ugly world
Something so beautiful.
Oh that every time I look inside...
I know, she knows that i'm not fond of asking
True or false, it may be... Well, she's still out to get me.
And I know, she knows that i'm not fond of asking
True or false, it may be... She's still out to get me!
//This is the fun one! I love this song and the kinda carefree beat that still fits Sylar and Claire so well. It's kind of about them having a somewhat relationship in the future, but Claire still kinda hating him and doing a bunch of stuff to piss him off and screw with his head. Because, you know she would.//
miss california // jack's mannequin
"but you're no mystery to me, miss california"
And I'm gonna take you to the mansion where I hide
and I'm gonna paint a diamond on your hand
And you will be my bride
You'll be missed Miss California
You'll be kissed by only me
When they can't find you you'll turn into a mystery
But you're no mystery to me, Miss California
Miss California
I'll be around, I'll be around.
You'll be missed Miss California.
You'll be kissed by only me.
When they can't find you you'll turn into a mystery
But not to me
//At first listen, this song is just kinda pretty and upbeat. But if you pay attention, it's mostly about kidnapping/stalking/generally being a creepy creeper. Which is Sylar's specialty, after all. Claire is obviously Miss California. Besides the fact that she does live in California, she also used to be the perfect, smiley cheerleader. At this point in the show, it's almost an ironic nickname, because she's grown into something so different. But at the end of the day, she'll still be the cheerleader and he'll still be her crazy stalker. And that's why they're perfect. (In a totally screwy way, mind you.)//
