It was the weekend between the end of Fortino's and the beginning of Black's. So many things were happening in Toronto that it gave us an incentive to go. It was such good timing.
I brought along Ichabod and Oli.
What I generally thought would happen:
Leave Hamilton around 8:15am; Take the 9:30 GO bus from Brampton to Union Station; Go to the Art Exhibit before 11 and mall rat at the Eaton Centre afterward; Check out the Yonge Street Festival; Go to Chinatown; And maybe go up the CN Tower.
What really happened:
I slept through my alarm clock and woke up at 8:00; Arrived in Brampton at 9:10, but didn't leave Adam's house until ten minutes later; Watched our bus drive away; Took the 10:00 Yorkdale and then subwayed to Union; Wandered the Art Exhibition in Nathan Phillips Square at noon; Looked for a park (I forget the name), not realizing that it would be a long walk; Dehydration; Found U of T; Found the Second Cup that I went to with Nini and Rabiya back in April; Went to Chinatown where I bought sunglasses for $5; Encountered some strange people; Lots and lots of walking; Reached Front St. and I went up the CN Tower for the FIRST TIME; Spent a couple of hours in the unusual building with a great view; Dinner at Planet Hollywood where we were served by an Australian girl who greeted us with "How you going?"; 7-Eleven Slurpees and candy; Simply passing by the Yonge and Dundas scene; Randomly met Abbas, who works with Adam and who also turns out to be Azim's cousin; Got back to Brampton at 12:30am (downtown is so dead at this time).
Sunday was meant for Wonderland, but the free tickets couldn't be found. Instead, we played pool and 21 (which have become regular Brampton activities), ate some home-made burgers and I drove around for a bit. The day was still really fun.
This summer is definitely making up for all of the pathetic summers of my childhood.
