Favorite Christmas Memory!

Come! Sit by the theoretical fire. Share your favorite Christmas memory with me and others.

My favorite memory is from a looooooooong time ago when my Mimi was still alive. So this is pre-1993. I was approximately 5-7 years old. It happened a few years in a row, so it's good and memorable. My mom's side of the family, when we were all still young (most of my cousins were in high school by this point), would all gather at Mimi's house and pile into multiple cars, kids and adults alike, and we would go driving around town. We'd pull up to people's houses that we knew from church, the neighborhoods, or work, or whatever, and we would all (you know, the like 20-something of us) would stand on the front porch and in the front yard and sing Christmas carols at them. My job was to run and knock on the door and run back to the group. When the door opened, we'd start singing. It was so much fun. That's when Christmas still felt like Christmas and I still enjoyed it whole heartedly without batting an eyelash at anything else in the world. I loved it. Sometimes I think about how great it would be to go back to the times when nothing mattered except counting down the days til Christmas and eating with family. And, of course, singing carols at strange people's doors. You wouldn't catch me dead doing it now, but it's nice to think about. Haha.

Share your's!
