cool

What is cool? Why, Transformers of course. I went in excited yet at the same time unsure of how good it would be. There were some shortcomings. I'd say the biggest deficiency was in the lines the actors were given. The parts I mention were not many in number but painfully blatant. The writers should have thought to themselves, "Is there anything else we can do with this dialogue?" The lead actor and actress, however, both did very well. Even despite some awkward lines, they pulled their parts off well. Other actors did not fare the same. Although I saw this as a problem, one has to realize that it IS Transformers. There is going to be some awkward dialogue and cheeseball stuff no matter what.

Next problem (out of three), is a scene with the lead actress. During one scene, the camera pans over her body; this is ok, plenty of movies have the scene where it shows the audience that this female character is smoking hot. But then at one point she is leaning over the engine with her back arched in such a way, that had one only seen that clip, you would think she was trying to get out of a ticket or get someone to repair her car for free. As a male I appreciated this scene but it took me out of the 'Transformers' feeling. I didn't feel like I was watching a kids movie and despite the Transformer's cool factor, that's what it is. I feel like in that moment, Bay forgot that Transformers has nothing to do with hot chicks and filming them like it's the intro to a porn scene, it's about big Fing robots tearing it up.

The last problem really is that the Transformers have turned into the new Chevy/Ford line up. I'm not mentally challenged, I get it, robots hit earth in present times, they're going to find new model cars and recognizable stuff to turn into. But honestly, wouldn't one of them have been a mercedes, one a toyota or honda? Yes yes, liscensing and what not maybe American motorcompanies were the highest bidder. But still, as unrealistic as Transformers is naturally going to be, couldn't we try harder in this area.

When it comes to the cgi and the robots themselves, fanfreakingtastic. They looked perfect. The movie even featured the original voice of Optimus Prime. I knew that I would appreicate this but did not realize how much. Having Optimus be himself was great. I felt like a little kid again. His voice just has a presence to it. The voice is part of optimus as much as being a semi-truck is.

I wanna quit writing now so let me say that I thought the movie was great. Some problems, but they weren't enough to take away the joy. If you ever liked the show as a kid you will greatly enjoy the movie. Love great cgi work and the idea of 3 story robots? You'll really like it as well. Have a great week.
