Question for f-list fic writers
I recently ran into a round robin contest on a forum, in which the latest entry bore a Very Definite resemblance to a friend's fic plot. The plot in question is unique, and the writer of the round robin is known to be familiar with it

They're all parodies. They're also written by people who, short of using a ouija board, it would be difficult to ask permission of.
In case it escaped your attention, there's a serious difference between a parody and simply using someone else's work - and I'm sorry, the whole concept of Linking Illyana, Rachel, and Kitty through Destiny's Diaries is pretty much Unique to Oldprydefan. I haven't read Paper Flowers since it was Written, but I know that much.
In addition, by using your "Apologies to", however incorrectly, you're Acknowledging you borrowed from Paper Flowers. You can't have it both ways. Either you did it in ignorance, or you did it intentionally without asking permission. Your mod may be fine with that - she obviously is. And Oldprydefan said it was fine, After it was done.
But then, she didn't have much choice, did she?
As for your writing - you'll notice I didn't identify you, you did that yourself. And this IS my LJ, in case that escaped your attention as well. But I DON'T read your writing normally. I DO, however, read Kirayoshi's (I'm actually on his author alert on ff.net) and some of the others, and thus Somehow stumbled upon your addition to the Round Robin.
Don't worry. I'll make sure I skip yours in the future.
