Wow. Just, wow.
I'm sad. Very, very sad, and various and asundry people in my head are very, very freaked out. But I've gotta say, if Whedon had to do it? He did a damn good job of it.
I've read the complaints, and some of them are justified. Yes, it would've been nice to see someone make some effort to actually Extract Kitty from the giant bullet. To me, that was the biggest hole in the whole thing; ALL these heroes around, and no one making any real effort to figure out how to get her Out. It can be argued that most of them thought until the very end that she was going to phase through, it can be argued that she was bonded to the bullet, but...in the end, some frantic scrambling Would have been gratifying, even if it was determined they couldn't succeed, for now.
What made up for it was the conversation between Kitty and Emma. Because both of them were SO IC, and yet they weren't fighting. Snarking a little, yes - but to do otherwise would've been wrong for both characters. But there was respect there, and acknowledgement. And Kitty did exactly what Kitty would've done, and saved the world.
The scene afterwards with Logan drinking heavily was also telling. This was his daughter, for all intents and purposes. That's Exactly what he would've done.
Now, if they can just get Kitty OUT of the giant bullet so that Bobby shuts up? That would be nice. I may end up having to do it myself, just to get some sleep. ;)
