This whole freak-out over the `End of E3` as we know it is kinda bugging me.
I don't see why it's a big deal to people to be honest. There was always so much going on at E3 every year that it almost became utterly ridiculous. E3 was just a huge industry jack-off that resulted in nothing. No new sales were generated based on what people read on Gamespot. Or IGN. Or saw on G4. Nothing changed. The hardcore gamers were still hardcore gamers. The casual gamers were still casual gamers. The people who paid attention to E3 news were the people that were looking for that news anyway.
And worst of all. It wasn't even open to the public. So why does it matter if it's shrinking in scope and scale. The big publishers will still have their own Expo's. And maybe we won't have a stupid rumour mill around the games anymore. Like, Stop me if you heard this one before:
"FFXIII will be announced for the 360 at the end of E3"
And that's just one of the asinine comments that I have to endure every E3. I'm tired of it and I'm glad it's going the way of the buffalo. All this means is that the game companies and the news organizations have to step up their damned coverage to 24/7 instead of one week during one month of the year. Good. I like having a steady flow of news all year then a torrent in May.
I'd like to say that I thought gamers were smarter then `OMG NO BOOTH BABES NO FUN E3!!!! YEARGH!!! RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!oneoneleetleet!!one` but I have been proven wrong by every single message board post that I've read on the subject. Save for a slight minority of people that think like I do that this will be better for the industry as a whole. And that's pretty lame that we're that much of a minority.
I really thought gamers were smarter then this. I am sad to see that I've been proven wrong.
