Great fic! And I know it's a Bobby story, but my favorite part is the image this conjures: "I bet Sam's blast shield is the only thing between him and accidental skinny-dipping right now." Hehehe.

Heh. I love fics that make use of Bobby's cooler powers, especially since the main writers of the X-titles tend to underuse them. (Although I'll give Carey props. He found the best way around the whole, "Damn, we've made Iceman too powerful" conundrum that anyone has yet.) I also like seeing the X-Folks acting like family, again because it's something the regular titles give us so little of.

My favourite X-books are the ones where the team really is shown as being an extended family (even if they occasionally got accused of being "incestuous" I'm looking at you, Cece). That's always going to be part of how I conceptualize them, and I'm glad you like that it shows in my writing. :3

Yeah, I read that after I posted it, and thought, "Okay, something in my subconscious is evil..." :)

What was Carey's specific dealie...He had Mystique seduce Bobby after having smeared a neural inhibitor on certain...ahem..."parts" of her body. As a result, when the Marauders attacked the next morning, he couldn't access his ice powers and was forced to run with Sam. Later, she told him that she'd done it because his ice form was just too powerful these days, and that either she or the Marauders or both had decided beforehand that he needed to be taken out of the equation. Hence, her sudden and persistent overtures to him once they were on the same team together

Ahhh! Suddenly the scales have fallen from my eyes. Yes, okay. That kinda makes sense. I knew he'd lost his powers in there somewhere, but not how. (I was having a lot of trouble keeping track of the books. :/ ) Thank you for clearing that up.

The thing with Bobby's powers is that it's been established that a) he's one of the more powerful mutants out there, b) he's spent a long time not fully exercising his abilities because he didn't really see the need (and he may also have been afraid of becoming too powerful/turning into an ice giant/accidentally freezing the entire planet), c) mutants typically get more powerful as they get older anyway...
