It has begun...

The walls of the TARDIS have been cut out.

The walls are 11cm x 18cm...and of course the widest piece of balsa we could find was 10cm. I was getting a bit frustrated because it was throwing all of my measurements out. And then...El came to the rescue, as she always does.

Because of the way I'm constructing it, I could make the walls in two pieces...and then brace them together. It wasn't making much sense to me at first...until El gave me a visual aid...and then it all made sense.

So the walls are cut out and I'm just waiting on the glue on the braces to set on two of them before I put the other two together. So far so good...and it hasn't taken too much time. Saying that...the walls are the easiest parts...*LMAO*

But, good lord, I think I love working with balsa!!

I'm not working tomorrow...so, in the morning (probably before El gets up) I'll head back to Bunnings to pick up some more wood...a bit thinner for the doors and such. What I'm working with right now is 5mm thick...so, I'm thinking maybe 3mm. I'll have to see what it looks like though.

Pretty sure I have the color picked out as well. Or close enough to TARDIS blue as I can possibly get without going into one of the shops and doing a color match. Which I could do...I think that's what I miss most about working in the shops...color matches. Oh, how I loved doing them.

Unless it was an old woman coming in wanting me to color match a tree branch for her.

Don't laugh...I'm not joking. It happened to me.

Tomorrow afternoon is an appointment that I'm really looking forward to...like stupidly excited for. More on that later. :) For now...

Gonna go check on my walls!
