Update - all hail Savers.

Home today, or rather, home after teh gym.

Have I mentioned how much fun it is? My personal trainer has discovered an easy way to get me to lift incredible weights: keep me talking and I'll do anything. So I'm already lifting weights greater than my body weight (on some machines. On other machines I'm still pretty piss week). So that's exciting. I come home all warm and buzzy and motivated so, since returning I've done lots of things and am now merrily sorting out the stock I bought yesterday.

Went shopping yesterday with seedy_girl. She makes the best shopping companion: we headed off to Savers's Dandenong and Frankston and oh, lordy.....the booty! There aren't many things that op shops or Savers have to tempt me, usually they're full of modern things but Savers is so big and such an untapped gold mine that there are plenty of lovely things for the discerning eye, amongst all the never-ending racks of polyester.

I spent about $700. After about $200 discount [1]. It would have been hard to fit any more in the car and now, sorting it all into hand-wash/machine-wash/dry-clean piles I'm staggered at my success. Seven mens suits from the 40s to the 70s. Original hawaiian shirts. Tiki shirts!! late 60s cord jackets. Okay, only one cord jacket but it's a goodie. Lots of great knitwear including a black 50s mohair cardi. I reckon there is over 20 pieces of good knitwear and at least a dozen vintage waistcoats and over 30, maybe 40 vintage shirts from the 40s-70s. The campest early '80s new wave formal shirt! Anton's shirts! Heh, Circa will have to do without those: one nice blue one with pin up buttons for drzero and one black one with ruffles for thorfinn.

Un-believe-able. The best thing is that if I can get things cheaply, I can sell them cheaply. I like that, I like that a lot. I like undercutting op shops, much less the other vintage shops, and all of my stock is washed, ironed and mended!

I love buying new stock, it's the best part of it all. I love finding that shiny diamond or diamond-to-be amongst the fashion faux pas of the last few decades. I love imagining the expression on the new owner's face when they try on that perfect thing that will make their day.

My job rocks.
