Been a long time coming...
Well, I haven't updated in a while, so brace yourselves...
For starters, I haven't been fired, yet, which is good. They are starting to dump a load of random shit on me, so I have been quite busy.
They've started hiring shitloads of young, recent grads to replace people who are retiring. I think I saw a graphic somewhere and more than half of all agency employees are eligible to retire in the next 5 years. The committee saw that and pretty much shit themselves, so in my "class," we have about 70 interns. The next two are both above 100. Include the summer-hires, we have a couple hundred 20-somethings all working in the same place with readily accessible bars within short metro rides or walking distance. I've been getting quite familiar with the area happy hour specials.
Washington is an awesome city. If anyone has the opportunity to come visit, please do so. It seems there are interns everywhere, and (surprise surprise) they like to go out and party. With the republicans back in power, everyone seems to be 'reliving' the reagan years. You can't get away from the 80's music, which I don't mind at all - it's not like I ever hosted the flashback cafe or anything.
Oh, and playing football with an empty keg? Definitely Bad Idea jeans. I narrowly avoided serious injury when I didn't realize they were passing to me and I got hit with it. And don't even think about blocking a pass.
