Hmmm, what to write about tonight? Just a quick warning, I usually don't write much; I much prefer to call up random people I haven't spoken with in a while, but I am having trouble finding people to talk to, so - brace yourselves.
Had a good weekend, went to visit the girlfriend (and her family) for Thanksgiving. The food was great, but it was just a bit different. Usually I go to Indianapolis to visit with my dad's side of the family, and we all have a great time. Spend most of it drinking, watching football, and playing cards, and that works fine for me. We've been chatting it up for most of the day before dinner is served early evening. Needless to say we're all pretty juiced before dinner even starts. However, her family doesn't really drink, they don't watch football, and everyone was busy doing their own thing before dinner. It was a bit too different, so I said 'fuckit,' grabbed a beer (which I had the forethought to bring along), sat down in front of the TV, and put on the Packers-Detroit game (HAHA!!! fuck YOU green bay!!). I should mention that I had to work loading the FedEx trucks for Friday delivery that morning at 2am, so I promptly fell asleep, which really helped pass the time along.
Also, had a job interview in Washington DC, which is a cool town. The interview went really well, and I don't want to jinx it, so no more about it for now.
Also, listened to a radio station out of Philadelphia that was looking for a new midday DJ while I was driving around. They had been looking for quite some time, however I haven't had much opportunity to get back to Illinois to work on my demo CD. I could have quit my jobs and gone, but I chose to stick around and focus on my job search. It was a career choice I thought I'd made and been done with some time ago (my last LJ entry). While I had made the choice, I didn't have to actually start down one path or the other until now. It wasn't easy. So I guess it's official: DJ Loaf has left the building. I try not to listen to the new DJ's they're bringing in to try out for the spot. I was just as good, if not better, than many of the ones I've heard. Even if I just got in once, for one shift, and they told me to fuck off, it would have been worth it. I would have loved to know how it feels to be on the air in a big city, if only for one night.
Well SHIT! - That Washington job pays a whole lot more, and did I mention Washington DC is a shitload of fun? Who knows, I might even be able to cross a few things off my to-do-before-I-die list ;)
