SUMMER FILM CHALLENGE: DISCUSSION POST #1 THE DARJEELING LIMITED

Jul 18, 2010 10:43

This is the place to discuss the first stop of our journey:

So, how did you like The Darjeeling Limited? Was it everything you hoped it would be or did it not live up to your expectations? What did you think about the three brothers' quirky habits? Were you disappointed when your favourite character Brendan did not go with them anymore? Has this movie convinced you to hop on a plane and head to India yourself? TELL US ALL ABOUT IT!

Other possible topics of discussion:
  • What are your ~deep feelings about Adrien Brody and his glasses?
  • Reasons why Owen Wilson is not completely insufferable in Anderson's movies.
  • Any thoughts on the barefooted Jason Schwartzman and his 'stache?
  • Slow-motion - yay or nay?
  • Wes Anderson's humour - does it work for you?
  • Everything and anything else you can think of!
A reminder: discussions can take any form you want them to. Serious reviews about the film as a whole are as much encouraged as downright flailing over actors. Want to declare your love for the landscapes, the country or the vehicles? Want to picspam? Rec a book that the film made you think of? Post links to fics, vids or songs? IT'S ALL GOOD! :D Socializing is encouraged so feel free to reply to other people's comments at all time! Passers-by are also welcome to join in. Opinions can of course be posted freely and you should not be afraid to say you did not enjoy the film of the week or point out aspects you did not like about it. But no fighting in the car, ok?

note
The short film Hotel Chevalier is a prologue to The Darjeeling Limited and explains what happened between Jack and his girlfriend (Natalie Portman). It's a nice bonus. If you don't object to giant Spanish subtitles, you can watch it on Youtube here: part one and part two. If you like a cleaner version, you can go here :)
