I'd say I'm now $20 years old, but someone would take that the wrong way...

I've been around the sun 32/$20/%40 times now, and for the most part I had a good weekend of celebrating.

Thursday, I went out with my folks and shadowstalkerw to the Chef Orient for teppanyaki dinner. Despite being on a restricted diet my mother found her fill to eat and enjoy in the form of teriyaki chicken and beef and a side of white rice, while the three of us all partook of the grill. It's nice, especially, to go there and not have to pay 'cause your folks are taking you out for your birthday. ;9 It's a shame dancingjenny78 and her fiance were unable to join us due to time and money restrictions, but I'll see them later in the week!

After dinner Jeremy and I headed on down to spunkywulf's place for cake and merriment. Jen and Gan had headed out to South Station to pick up their friend Doral, but she told her roommate Jerry to let us in the house. Shortly thereafter, was1 showed up, and the three of us chatted down in the living room while Jerry was upstairs working on his room and while Jen and Gan were on their way back. Once everyone was back, we settled in to watch Friday After Next, which is a rather hilarious comedy. Of course, I got embarrassed with the requisite cake, but it was delicious, and I even got to take some home. :)

Friday I was supposed to go out for an "Evening of Good Karma" for someone who's going out for surgery, but Old Man Winter had other ideas. By the time I got out of the office at 5, I was almost a-slippin' even on the main roads. My normally 35-45 minute drive home took me a good 70-75 minutes.

Saturday I met up with Jeremy and points for dinner at Le's restaurant (formerly PhoPasteur) in Chestnut Hill, with Points and his family, followed by an uproarious showing HPT 159: The Tent Commandments. (See the link for an understanding of HPT.) Needless to say, the show puts tarinfirepelt's infamous puns to shame. To SHAME! :D During intermission, Jeremy, Points' mother, and made a quick run to get ice cream up the square a bit. Neither Jeremy nor I took jackets with us 'cause we thought it was around the corner, and apparently so did Points' mother! (At least she was smart enough to have worn her jacket. :D) We ended up walking about a half mile in 30 degree weather without jackets... to get ice cream. Yeah. But life is all about the fun, silly times we can enjoy, and I had a most excellent time. Hopefully there will be a spare ticket next year, 'cause I'd love to take part again!

Sunday found me waking up at Jeremy's place 'cause the weather forecast called for freezing temps overnight and all that water on the road to freeze over. He and I puttered around the apartment a little bit, had breakfast, and he introduced to Hellsing, which is a really spiffy, if a little dark, anime about a vampire organization. I think we got through about seven or eight episodes of the total 13 before I had to bid him goodbye as I went out to meet my friend and former professor Judy for lunch.

I got to Judy's around 12:30 or so, and we walked down to the Restaurant Changsho for some really tasty Chinese buffet, and we talked about all sorts of things over lunch ... from languages, to Chinese cultures and cuisines, to finances, to Amtrak, to personal affairs. After lunch, I crashed back at her place for a few hours before returning home.

I was supposed to have cake and ice cream last night with Jenn and Ray, but we had to call it off 'cause Ray's got a fever and really wasn't up for coming out to my place. Oh, well, we'll get to it later in the week, I'm sure!

Oh! And I'm going on vacation starting Thursday. New York City, here I come! :)

Time for lunch!

birthday
