You know ... that Thing...
Just saw The Thing.
I liked it! If I've never seen the Kurt Russell version I probably would've liked it more. The paranoia, the prejudices, the craziness, not to mention the flamethrowers, were ramped out to the max.
And the movie was gory. So gory that for the first time in my life I was actually longing for a hurl bucket when I walked out of the theater. The CGI was good but I still prefer Carpenter's freudian enterprise when it comes to the monster.
It really kept faithful to Carpenter's take and I thought that was cool b/c I always wondered what happened to the Norwegian outpost, and what the hell was the shooter doing with a case full of grenades in a helicopter. Seriously, every question I had with Carpenter's story was answered with this one.
A warning: besides the mind-bending goriness, the ending is grim. And a little bit sad. Okay, a lot sad but it involved flamethrowers so it wasn't a total downer.
