NaNoWriMo - Report, Day Five

Nov 05, 2006 21:39

So. Day Five is now over. So is my week-long holiday, and tomorrow I'm going back to school. I've worries about being able to reach 50k - the part where I might lose interest and never finish the thing is still there, but I don't think it will become a problem.

Over the last five days, I've managed to write 30913 words. I've less than 20k to go. Even if I have to spend two hours every day on doing homework or working on my senior project, I will still be able to squeeze out a minimum of 2k every day. I know, because I've done it before, and considering that I will have more words coming out of week one than I have any of my previous years - well, it just won't be a problem.

The mystery is getting nicely tangled now; my main characters are chasing down all sorts of clues as to who murdered the man who is found dead in the prologue, and I really, really like most of the characters. Ezekiel Marley is all sorts of shiny, and Cathal Merrick is quite fun to write, especially since I can take the liberty of making him really, really grumpy because of his constant leg-ache and the limping. (Why, no, he is not channeling Gregory House - why are you asking? It's an old war-injury, 'kay?) My favourite to write remains Clarabell Levins, but Saskia is kind of fun too. Especially when she's alone with her family.

But enough rambling now.
