I knew she'd have fun with this...
1. How do you balance your dual religious lives and how does this affect your relationship with your family?
Very carefully, and oddly. For the first part of the question,to achieve balance wasn't easy and I still waffle occasionally. I had to find what was good for me, what there was that I could believe in. I found that while I had grown up in the church, I only believed in the bare bones of the structure, and rejected the dogma. I believed in one god/higher being, and that it was either both or neither Male/Female. I found peace in the rituals of Wicca, but had problems integrating myself fully into its structure. I liked the fact that I could be one in nature, in all my surroundings. Hate to say it but I am an individualist.
As for my family...My mom seems to be okay with it most of the time, but still sends me preachy e-mails on occasion. Laura is so self-absorbed that I doubt she notices or cares. Same with Nate, he's to busy with his fiancee. Angie knows and accepts it, more to have me aid in her own religious rebellion than anything else, I think. Either Dad knows and is ignoring it, or is so damn clueless it hurts. Either way, as long as I am not too overt in my rituals and discussions, things go smoothly.
2. What is your biggest regret?
Damn, that's hard. I would have to say that I regret all of the barriers I have learned to put up over the years. I regret the fact that I fear letting people get close to me, so that I push them aside before that can happen.I have to say, that among those I call friends, I am the only one I know with such thick defenses.
A little regret was that I had to quit the violin when we moved to this state. I was good! But no-one in the school district taught it at the time.
3. Where do you WANT to see yourself in 10 years? (IE: career, family, relationships, living arrangements, ect.)
This is where all that teasing kicks in, Bree.
I'm old fashioned, I guess. I'd like to have a career, preferably with animals rather than humans. I'm like to be a volunteer rescue home for animals that have been abused.
I'd love to have moved from this State, as I have never really liked it. I want to stay on the East coast, maybe Massachusetts.
I want a husband and kids. At least 3. I like kids, but want a stable relationship before having them. I want a partnership, a mate who will love me regardless of my weirdness. in 10 years, I want to be sober, and not perpetuating the abuse I have lived with.
4. Congratulations, you have just been zapped into the Anita Blake Universe. Who are you (human,were-creature,vampire), what is your rank(master, alpha, beta), and what do you do?
You had to ask....
I would be a were-jaguar if I had my way. Knowing me, I'd be an Alpha, but a soft alpha, someone who does what is needed to be done, when necessary. A second-in-command if you will, or vargamor in whatever the word is for cats. I would probably own a little herb shop, or similar place, being comfortable in my skin. I'd probably be around to help Anita and crew. If I lived in St. Louis. If I did...I might see about "borrowing" Nathaniel for a while. *winks*
5. What do you consider to be your greatest flaws and your greatest strengths? How do they impact your everyday life?
Damn good question. Strengths, I would have to say my determination/perseverance, my love of learning and of passing that learning on, my willingness to sit and listen as friends rant or cry about their troubles, and my sense of humor and appreciation of the ridiculous.
FLaws....you want me to list them all? Nail-biting,worrying, fear of hurt, of rejection, know-it-all-ism, temper, chattering, procrastination!
I need to persevere in the daily grind at my house. I bite my nails when thinking. I pour my frustrations into my schoolwork, except for papers, which I leave til the last minute. I tutor for the pleasure of it and the paycheck.
i hang with friends and listen to their rages and weeping and laughter and sappy lovesickness to experience a life that I do not dare to pursue. I could not bring a guy to my house...not with my dad!
I chatter when nervous or scared or excited. I try to see the humor in everysituation, sense the ridiculousness of it all or I might just cry, and I cannot cry. I push people awy because I am afraid of being hurt, of being rejected, so I am often alone. I have a temper, which, when roused can blow either hot or cold, depending on who you are. Both my strengths and flaws have made me who I am, and shape how I act everyday.
Now it's your turn. Here's the deal.
1. Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2. I will respond; I'll ask you five questions.
3. You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4. You'll include this explanation.
5. You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.
So who wants to be interviewed?
