I have a good job here in NY. I make more than double what I made in PA, but in PA I could afford an apartment. Here I am an hour and a half north of NYC, it would take a bit less than half my income to get my own place in a neighborhood where I would feel safe. I am also having issues at work and I'm not thrilled with the lack of professionalism.
If I get in with a larger corporation that provides clinical nutrition services like Morrison, Sodexo, or Aramark I would get much better benefits, a better retirement plan, and possible upward mobility. I have updated my resume and have noted a few possible options that would include relocation. I'm looking in the Atlanta, GA, Savannah, GA, Charlottesville, VA, and Asheville, NC areas. There is also a couple of amazing opportunities in Philadelphia, PA and Tampa, FL.
I have family and friends in most of these places. Asheville and Philadelphia are the two places I don't have family. My dad is all for me trying someplace new... Mom is saying stay here for now and ride out the issues I'm having currently and see how it turns out.
I really do miss having privacy and I am going to need a better retirement plan than the one I have now as I'm am the oldest person my current company employees and have less time to build it up.
So do I start applying and see what kind of offers I get? or do I stay here and hope things get better? I really like long term care, the hospital was nice but not as rewarding. In LTC I can see that I make a difference as I can follow my people for a long time and see how things go...
I just don't know what I should do...
