Things are afoot...

I am taking Memorial day weekend off... I asked for it in February and that was plenty of time for them to figure something out. Last time I needed a day off and they scheduled me to work they told me it was my responsibility to get the shift covered and I ended up missing a class because no one would do it and the teacher was very understanding, that isn't happening this time... They tried to call me in to work early today, I didn't pick up the phone and listened to the voice mail and then went to go play tennis until the financial aid office opened.

I spoke to one of the nice ladies there and asked if the unused offer of a subsidized student loan for 2014-2015 was useable for the summer semester, she said it was. I then asked if I don't need the entire amount can I return the unused portion to the servicing company and even pay it off early if I I find I'm not in as need as I think I might be and that was a yes too... she said all I need to do to accept it is to fill out a form (which I did) and then go online and sign the master promissory note and I'll have the loan.

I set this all up on the off chance that when I inform work that I intend to take my trip no matter what the schedule says I have an option to say "Fuck it all" and leave if I don't get my way. I have gone out of my way and bent over backwards to help them out and the very least they could do is reciprocate when I ask for one weekend off and give them plenty of notice to make it happen. As it is looking at my schedule for fall I probably won't be able to fit in a job anyway between the labs, heavy science classes (I hear Anatomy is killer) and the fact that I'm going to probably need to take on a client for the Personal Training certification class... so I will probably be getting a peer tutor position it's not as much money but I will need to be on campus more and I will need study time too. This will leave me with just one class left for my Associates and I'd be taking that too if it were offered any time before Spring 2016...

We'll see how it goes... I'd rather not have to use the nuclear (loan and no job) option but I also am very sick of getting taken advantage of and I like having a back up plan.
