Pretty much, Its for those of us who believe in a god but not that said god takes an active part in our daily lives, watching over us, answering prayers and the like.

For me I have never been able to thing of anything more selfish than prayers, to me it's saying "Hey you, I know you set up this whole existence thing in a particular way, for a particular reason, with physical laws and stuff, but could you like, you know, ignore it in relation to me cause I am not having a great day or existence."

I think the Muslims deal with it a bit better, not sure how hot they are in pryaing for particular things, I know they rock at regular worship. I mean Christians, maybe once a week (for some fanatics a couple times a week) but they worship 5 times a day. Twice before I even like to wake up in the mornings.

But mainly for their one phrase "inshallah" Translates roughly as... "If Allah wills it" or "as Allah wills it". It really is a marvellously useful term of complete fatalism and one which has no direct English equivalent. The closest thing I can think are phrases like "then again we could all be dead", "could be worse", and maybe even a dash of a truly Gallic shrug.
