My trip to Vegas was excellent, I don't think that can be stressed enough!! I was taken many places, had many delicious meals, shopped for a lot of things not only for myself, but for others as well, drank entirely too much, yet I think there were times I should have drank more *shrugs, hopped from this bar to the next, watched the people wander around. Yes I defiantly had a good time.
A few friends from Colorado were supposed to show up for the Bar Convention being held in Vegas, and my bestest friend had made flight plans to come. However, I never heard from the convention gang, and John was unable to make it as the airline made changes to his flight schedule, in which I completely understand. Seeing as how I didn't really make any plans, this didn't seem to throw anything out of balance. I was a bit sad that John couldn't make it, but understood. More over, I was having plenty of fun and laughs with my currently company!
This trip to Vegas was to ring in my 28th birthday, as well to celebrate someone else's birthday. Having said that, I landed in Vegas on the night of my friends birthday. We met up at the hotel, grabbed some food (I'm terribly sorry it wasn't something better :-( ) and went off to the bars. Was a good first night in Vegas, with the exception of the food hah.. I hope that my friend had a good birthday! 3 days later was time for me to turn a bit older, and as they say get a bit wiser. I'm not really sure about the wiser part, but yeh older I can deal with. ;-) I had good times on my birthday, breaking the general tradition of getting so entirely drunk that I need help to the car. Someone commented on that, saying that was the old age creeping in. I said no, that was me having something ....... anyway, another time perhaps. I did get a bit drunk but not so that I didn't remember who I was, where I was going, or how I was going to get there! And once again I must confess, age had nothing to do with the BA level I had that night. ;-)
Of course one cannot go to Vegas without hitting a club or 2 or 3 or 4 or so... We hit our fair share of clubs. In doing so I was introduced to a very colorful group of individuals, saw some go go dancin boiz, caught a drag show, even saw Elvis do karaoke. Each night at any given bar was a very interesting experience, and although you would see some of the same people each night, it was rarely the same. A bit of a note tho - If you like your drinks a little on the strong side and aren't use to ordering doubles, you may keep in mind that you'll want to mention double & tall in the same sentence, however also keep in mind that ordering that drink doubled & tall will get you what is normally considered a triple if not more, depending on the club and the bartender. ;-) Just add another lime or lemon and you'll be jus fine, cherries jus don't work well in cranberry juice or sweet & sour mix ;-) . *giggles.
As always eating in Vegas is interesting. Where else in the country/world could you go and eat a very nice dinner at a 5 star restraunt in blue jeans and a t-shirt, catching a glimpse of some oh la la celebrity in the corner stuffing their face like no tomorrow? (Not that I saw any celebrities, but it's been known to happen.) Some of the places we dined at were Rum Jungle, Il Fornaio, Gallaghers, Subway, Vons Deli, America, California Pizza Kitchen, and I myself at Il Fornaio Cafe. If your looking to save your pennies for the slots Subway is defiantly your place to go, but if you want a good steak with you paying 50$ for 8oz. I would most defiantly recommend Gallaghers located in NY NY Hotel & Casino. You can take 2 people have steak, 2 soft drinks, cocktails, baked potatoes, salads, and house bread for around $115.00 My understanding is Delmonico at Venetian is a little more expensive?! For those of you that long for pasta I would recommend Il Fornaio also located in NY NY Hotel & Casino. Here you can choose from a very nice list of pasta mostly made in house, it however will be listed otherwise (read the menu details!). 2 people can eat here with soft drinks, and house bread for between $43.00 to $75.00 (including a bottle of white zin.) Il Fornaio Cafe is an excellent place to grab a nice sandwich if your tired of the fast food nation or just want a quick coffee or cafe mocha or something along those lines. 1 person can easily slide outta there without spending more than $6.00 for the cafe mocha plus 2 additional shots of espresso (and unlike most of the Starbucks it's not watered down or burnt.), or $8.00 for an Italian sandwich and a Diet Pepsi. America is your basic anytime restaurant, also located in NY NY Hotel & Casino. They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner as well as late night stuffs. The food is good, the prices are fair. Good place to go early morning if you have a problem with hang over. LoL... Rum Jungle. This restaurant was very interesting. Not so much because of the food, but because of the atmosphere and such. I liked it. I mean don't get me wrong the food was good! :-) This restaurant is located in Mandalay Bay, you'd be better off to park in self parking and walk in. *nods Cos it's right through the door. HeH... It truly lives up to it's name, has every type of rum available in the US, and that's alotta rum. The food is great. I had the Fire Pit. Basically it's a buffet of meat, sorta. They bring 8 different types of meat to you on skewers, slice you off a piece at a time, and then come around with a different type and slice you off a different type, so on and so forth. When you've gotten all 8 types of meat they ask you what you liked and if you'd like any more of a specific type. You have beef, chicken, turkey, salmon, ahi, sausage, pork, and bacon wrapped something. Along with your meat you get some rices, beans and bread with dipping sauce. It's actually very good, and is prolly their biggest seller. Drinks there are fabulous, I would most defiantly recommend The Volcano, the servers as well as the menu make it sound and seem stronger than it really is. ;-) I've heard that the Hawaiian Pau (if I'm at all lucky, I got that right.) is rather good as well. Dinner for 2, bread, beans, rices, cocktails, and soft drinks, cost ya around $120.00, but it's very well worth it! California Pizza Kitchen inside Fashion Show Mall is a nice little place to grab a pizza, especially if you like gourmet pizza. For 3 of us to eat there it was around $30.00, for 2 pizzas both with extra cheese. ;-p And last but certainly not least Vons Deli. A sub sandwich anyway you want it, and damn good too much better than Subway. HeH.. Location, and price I have no idea I didn't go and I didn't buy. All I can tell ya is I got a foot long a few hours before I left Vegas on my way back to Colorado, I ate half of it in da hotel and put the other half in my carry on, part of it was munched on in da plane, and the other part when I got home. Prolly one of the best damn deli sammiches I've had. *Wonders if they're sistah store ovah here makes sammiches as good....
A lot of people wonder what I buy when I go on a trip, well heres ya chance to find out. Upon my ventures around The Strip and Vegas areas I purchased The book of The Dead, 13 t-shirts, 1 outfit - laundry was being done, my choices were run around nekkid, or put a sock on it. I some how doubt Metro Police, Hotel Security, Little old ladies, Taxi Authority, hell virtually anyone for that matter would want to see that mess! A bottle of cologne, some shoes, a pair of jeans, and 4 statutes. Out of that the book, statutes, outfit, and a 5 t-shirts are mine. So you see unlike some like to think, everything I buy isn't for me. I try to be sweet, occasionally.. :-p
I spent a total of 7 days in Vegas this trip. Normally in my ventures to Vegas by the 5th day I'm ready to tear The Strip apart and level every hotel & casino I see, mainly out of boredom. However this trip I was free of boredom, actually I was free from a lot of things, and let me tell ya, you have no earthly idea how good that felt. Everyday I was there I had someone to hang out with, someone to talk to, someone to enjoy a nice meal with. In general just have a damn good time! That in its self was worth nothing you could win from any casino! I'm sure he has some idea of how much I appreate him showing me around, taking me out, going to dinner with me, hanging out with me, listening to me ramble, and in general just putting up with me, but I'm not sure he has the full spectrum of it, or maybe he does. *shrugs....
Thank you Devon! *Hugs..
