1. Today I voted for Hillary Clinton. Voting by electronic machine is rather unsatisfying and also I worry about it being successfully recorded at all, but that's my option here. Didn't take long, either.
2. Night before last, I had a dream that ended in a musical number about how I should never eat the local food in Faerie if I wanted to be able to leave. I'm not kidding. It would have been more awesome at the time if I had actually brought food like everyone else in the party (all of whom brought two salads each in clear takeout containers, purchased from the pre-Faerie dock stands), all seven of which plus me were crammed into a hatchback for the drive. Yes, the drive to Faerie.
Writer Elizabeth Bear (whom I have never met) made a cameo appearance in the body of a man. It wasn't even her version of Faerie we were visiting. Dear Elizabeth Bear (and six even more total strangers): if this ever actually happens, the cautionary song was cool but I'd really rather be warned where we're going in time to buy lunch. Also, I'm gonna have to borrow dream cash from somebody, because I remember that being a plot point: I forgot my purse. (The whole thing was sort of a spur-of-the-moment trip for me-- I was actually trying to get to Narnia.)
Then again, I suppose you usually end up in Faerie when that wasn't actually where you were trying to go in the first place.
I'm tempted to write the pre-Faerie food stands into a story, because it's so practical-- a whole little market of vendors who know where you're going and that you need to take food in if you want to be sure you can come back out! Thank you, my surprisingly mercenary subconscious.
I really should have recorded that song before the melody left and the words got jumbled.
