OKAY SO here's a crazy story: I wanted to get a game for break to play from GameFly because I've got nothing but my trusty Grandpa PS2 at uni. Sent a game back on Friday, new game shipped Saturday, so I figured I'd get get it on Monday and have the whole week to play it. YES? NO. I didn't get it until Friday, so I spent all of Saturday marathoning it to finish it before I had to go back. LARDY LARD
ON THAT NOTE it's been a long time since I was actually interested enough in a game that I could marathon it for 8+ hours sob but Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon managed it! This one was by the recommendation of
parttimeprince and
poptart_master. I'm not even sure what kind of game I would call this - it's not scary, so it's not survival horror, but... at the same time, it has that kind of setting and atmosphere, so... survival horror lite or something. But it was very entertaining. It's not very difficult at all, has gorgeous scenery and design, and an interesting enough plotline/world/characters to keep me hooked for 90% of Saturday. GOOD STUFF
I don't think I can go on for multiple paragraphs about this one at the moment, so I won't. But BOY the main thing about that game is TRAUMA TRAUMA. Never have I seen such an adorable and lovable cast of characters stepped all over constantly. I don't just mean there's one bad event that happens in the middle Code Geass-style that makes you want to turn away from the screen. Oh no. IT IS A CONSTANT BARRAGE OF MISERY. They get your hopes up and give you that warm and fuzzy feeling and then immediately wring the WAFF's neck and drown in it a rusty bucket of icewater. I was spoiled for a lot of the early and middle game, but I knew nothing about the plot outside of PF and Crow, so the ending did a good job leaving me with the feeling of THERE WAS A HOLE HERE AND IT NEVER WENT AWAY EVER. No tears from me, but it did a good job making me depressed and making me care about all the characters, which not many games seem to be good at these days.
Worth a play if you've got a Wii, for sure.
on an unrelated note listening to this song and thinking about Fragile makes me want to put the two together in some terrible animated way please stop me
