Winter Dance week

Jan 03, 2007 18:08

Winter dance week was good, but i hardly had time to breath and be alone... which i kind of wanted.
we are very much considering starting an asheville rapper sword time, we just need one more person, and fiddle player and swords.

two of the most beautiful moments of my life happend over the week, they are as fallows:
1. We played The Game, and then got out the ping-pong table for a game of round robin ping-pong, which is pretty cool as is. however, we had more people than paddles, so one person used a mushroom, and one used a book. we gave up on trying to keep the ball on the table. Chris got out his fiddle, and played us a pretty little tune. Chloe requested a jig, and everyone started in on our rapper swoard step, and contiuned to play ping-pong. so we had a round robin game of ping pong, played with a mushroom and a book, in a beautiful jig step. it was lovely.
2. At the end of the dance on newyears, everyone still out that late stood in a circle and held hands for the goodnight song, which bob led, but only sang the normal "good night to you all, etc." Chloe Able Taija and I had been excited about getting to sing Ring It In. so once everyone started dirfting away, I said that we should sing it anyway. So the four of us started singing as loudly as we could. The people standing neer is starting singing with us, more and more people in the room joined in, until eventually we were back to everyone holding hands in a ciricle all the way around the room singing. Bob just smiled at us and shook his head.
After that event, i was standing with Annie Fain, and Emily Willy, and talking about how amazing and beautiful what had just happend was. Annie Fain said "Well, the moral of the story is that if you do anything loud enough and confidently enough, everyone will join in"
Emily said "Yep. I bet if you started dancing around the room like a chicken, and you did it confidently enough, everyone would join in"
so-- i started marching around the room flapping my wings... sure enough... i eventually got about twenty five people to prance around and flap their wings in a ring around the dance floor. people i dont even know. It was amazing. No one even wanted to know why they were doing it.

life is good.

Hazel got married, and Chase got engaged, and Sarah Webb is now engaged. We're getting old
oh, and there is a new boy. We'll see how that goes when he gets back from being across the world.
