Sorry KATTUN fans, but I am totally hooked on 夏の場所, of all songs. Forgive me that I am not all over your 赤西仁 or your 亀梨 or their solos. It's just that I'm a sucker for 80's/90's sounding songs that sound like crosses of hip-hop and bubblegum pop and new wave.
Natsu no Basho would have bought me completely, heart and soul, but it hadn't because of the lack of romantic lines in the song. I think it isn't romantic enough but the melody suggests something more... dramatic, pathetic, romantic. LOL YEAH it's a requirement for me if the song has that kind of tune. xD Maybe it's the mention of the singer emerging from a tall building that irked me *cough*shallow*cough* which to me totally killed the makings of a love song. THE MELODY EVEN HAS ME REMINISCING OF ALL THINGS. And it's supposed to be up-beat, too.
I'm not exactly sure if anyone actually understands what I'm getting at but bottom-line is, Natsu no Basho pwns all the solos in the DUES single that came out with 834987658745 Limited Editions. Think Dying Inside to Hold You by Timmy Thomas, Never Let Her Slip Away by Andrew Gold and LOVE SONG by 山下智久. Please don't ask me how to explain; I'm not a music expert to actually be able to expound on this greatly. Call it musical palate, I guess? 8D
Although, I've been noticing how these JE guys keep on insisting on singing lines into a melody that's not enough for the number of syllables in that line. It's always been a pet-peeve; kind of a standard that I actually have always considered in songs that I listen to (blame the strict Music professor of my high school days who instilled this on me when I had become some failed singing protégé random choir member under his tutelage, lol.) that I learned to ignore because of these pretty boys who've robbed me of my heart and soul and money.

EDIT: OH HI FANDOM. I DIDN'T KNOW UCHI'S BACK IN SINGING BIZNEZ. >D Though I doubt he'd be back in NEWS, I'm sure he'd be back in Eito. *le sigh* Dunno if that's a good thing or not. Nonetheless I hope his concerts do well and that the fans would support him, solo or not. :3 (Or he can form a duo with Toma or a Trio with Toma and Notti WOOT WOOT).

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, funnily, in a Danso no Reijin where Kuroki Meisa has the lead role, Maki plays Ueto Aya's former Ri Kouran! I think this is Sweet Power's way of trying to inject Homaki into the singing industry, just as how LesPros have done the same with Gakki. I have mixed feelings about this.
.......... and ugh, the syncopated melody of Natsu no Basho is on repeat in my mind. =___=
